GLASS AND GLAZING
1.01 SCOPE
A. Provide Glass and Glazing work as indicated by the Contract Documents.
B. Work, items and requirements specified elsewhere that apply and/or relate to this Section include:
1. Wood Doors - Section 08212
2. Sealants and Caulking - Section 07920
3. Metal Doors and Frames - Section 08100
4. Aluminum Entrance & Storefront - Section 08410
5. Toilet Accessories - Section 10800
1.02 STANDARDS AND QUALITY
A. Meet requirements and recommendations of the applicable portions of the Standards listed.
1. American Society for Testing and Materials ASTM
2. Flat Glass Jobbers Association FGJA
3. American National Standards Institute ANSI
4. Consumer Products Safety Commission CPSC
B. Conform to Fed-Spec. DD-G-451c.
C. Float Glass shall be "Glazing" quality. Sheet glass shall be "A" quality.
1.03 SUBMITTALS
A. Refer to Section 01340 - Submittals.
B. Samples - Two 12"x12" pieces of each type of glass.
C. Shop Drawings - Section and details of glass installation at framing members such as head, mullions, transoms,
jambs and sills.
D. Manufacturer's Literature.
1. Manufacturer's descriptive data of glass and glazing material.
2. Recommended installation instructions.
E. Certificates - manufacturer's certification that materials meet Specification requirements.
F. Recycled Content:
1. Indicate recycled content; indicate percentage of pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled content per
unit of product.
2. Indicate material cost of product less labor included in project.
3. If recycled content product is part of an assembly, indicate the percentage of recycled content product in
the assembly by weight.
G. Local/Regional Materials:
1. Sourcing location(s): Indicate location of extraction, harvesting, and recovery; indicate distance between
extraction, harvesting, and recovery and the project site.
2. Manufacturing location(s): Indicate location of manufacturing facility; indicate distance between
manufacturing facility and the project site.
3. Product Value: Indicate dollar value of product containing local/regional materials; include materials cost
only.
4. Product Component(s) Value: Where product components are sourced or manufactured in separate
locations, provide location information for each component. Indicate the percentage by weight of each
component per unit of product.
1.04 PRODUCT DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
A. Deliver glass with manufacturer's labels intact.
B. Do not remove labels until glass has been installed.
C. Keep glass free from contamination by materials capable of staining glass.
D. Deliver glazing compounds and sealants in manufacturer's unopened, labeled containers.
1.05 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
A. Perform glazing when ambient temperature is above 40 degrees F.
