PART 1 - GENERAL

BUILDING INSULATION
1.01 SCOPE
A. Provide Building Insulation work as indicated by the Contract Documents and as described herein.
B. Work, items and requirements specified elsewhere that apply and/or relate to this Section include:
1. Light Gage Metal Framing - Section 05400
2. Gypsum Wallboard - Section 09250
3. Mechanical - Division 15
1.02 STANDARDS
A. Meet requirements and recommendations of applicable portions of the Standards listed.
1. American Society for Testing and Materials ASTM
2. National Mineral Wool Insulation Association NMWIA
3. Federal Specifications Fed. Spec.
1.03 SUBMITTALS
A. Refer to Section 01340 - Submittals.
B. Submit two samples of each type of insulation required.
C. Technical Data: Submit technical data indicating thermal conductance factors of furnished insulation.
D. Recycled Content:
1. Indicate recycled content; indicate percentage of pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled content per
unit of product.
2. Indicate material cost of product less labor included in project.
3. If recycled content product is part of an assembly, indicate the percentage of recycled content product in
the assembly by weight.
E. Local/Regional Materials:
1. Sourcing location(s): Indicate location of extraction, harvesting, and recovery; indicate distance between
extraction, harvesting, and recovery and the project site.
2. Manufacturing location(s): Indicate location of manufacturing facility; indicate distance between
manufacturing facility and the project site.
3. Product Value: Indicate dollar value of product containing local/regional materials; include materials cost
only.
4. Product Component(s) Value: Where product components are sourced or manufactured in separate
locations, provide location information for each component. Indicate the percentage by weight of each
component per unit of product.
1.04 DELIVERY AND STORAGE
A. Schedule deliveries to avoid delays and to prevent greater accumulations than can be suitably stored at the site.
B. Deliver materials to the site in manufacturer's original, unopened, labeled containers.
C. Store to prevent damage from moisture and construction work.
D. Protect rigid insulation from direct sunlight with a light-colored opaque polyethylene film and ventilated to
prevent excessive temperature.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01 MATERIALS
A. Insulation in Auditoriums:
1. Owens Corning: #701 unfaced semi-rigid insulation in 1"or 2", thicknesses as shown on Drawings, refer
to Finish Schedule. Install at both side walls and projection wall of each auditorium at locations shown on
the drawings. This acoustical insulation product will comply with ASTM C553, Mineral Fiber Blanket
Thermal Insulation, Type III. Nominal Density per ASTM C 167 of 1.5 pcf.
2. Owens Corning: #703 ASJ faced semi-rigid insulation in 2" thickness. Install at all exterior walls of each
auditorium. This acoustical insulation product will comply with ASTM C 612 Mineral Fiber Block and
Board Thermal Insulation, Types IA, IB. Nominal Density per ASTM C 303 of 3.0 pcf.
