MISCELLANEOUS METAL
1.01 SCOPE
A. Provide Miscellaneous Metal work as indicated by the Contract Documents.
B. Work, items and requirements specified elsewhere that apply and/or relate to this Section include:
1. Structural Steel – Section 05100
2. Steel Stairs - Section 05510
3. Painting - Section 09900
1.02 STANDARDS
A. Meet requirements and recommendations of applicable portions of the Standards listed:
1. Architectural Aluminum Manufacturers Assoc. AAMA
2. American Society for Testing and Materials ASTM
3. American National Standards Institute ANSI
4. American Welding Society AWS
5. National Association of Architectural Metal Mfrs. NAAMM
6. American Institute of Steel Construction AISC
7. American Hot Dip Galvanizers Assoc. AHDGA
1.03 SUBMITTALS
A. Meet requirements of applicable portions of "Structural Shop Drafting" by AISC.
B. Provide drawing profiles, sections, and views of items especially manufactured for this work at a scale large
enough to permit checking for design conformity.
C. Show locations, markings, quantities, materials, sizes and shapes.
D. Note and mark sufficiently to indicate compliance with requirements of these Specifications.
E. Submit samples of materials involved showing actual colors and finishes.
F. Refer to Section 01340 - Submittals.
G. Recycled Content:
1. Indicate recycled content; indicate percentage of pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled content per
unit of product.
2. Indicate material cost of product less labor included in project.
3. If recycled content product is part of an assembly, indicate the percentage of recycled content product in
the assembly by weight.
H. Local/Regional Materials:
1. Sourcing location(s): Indicate location of extraction, harvesting, and recovery; indicate distance between
extraction, harvesting, and recovery and the project site.
2. Manufacturing location(s): Indicate location of manufacturing facility; indicate distance between
manufacturing facility and the project site.
3. Product Value: Indicate dollar value of product containing local/regional materials; include materials cost
only.
4. Product Component(s) Value: Where product components are sourced or manufactured in separate
locations, provide location information for each component. Indicate the percentage by weight of each
component per unit of product
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01 MATERIALS
A. Structural Steel: ASTM A36/A36m-94 and A588/A588m-94, Grade 46
B. Welding Materials: AWS Code A5.1-69, Series E60 or E70 as required.
C. Sheet Steel: ASTM A653/A653m Coating G90.
D. Prime Paint: Zinc Chromate iron oxide.
E. Bituminous Paint: ASTM A123-89a.
F. Steel Pipe: ASTM A53-95, Grade B.
G. Galvanizing: ASTM A123-89a.
H. Aluminum Pipe: Alloy 6063 Schedule 40.
