be recalled that goal programming is a mathematical programming technique
with the capability of handling multiple goals given certain priority
structure. Furthermore, a goal programming model may be composed of
non-homogeneous units of measure, which is the case under consideration.
In brief, the main task here refers to the compensation of total expenses
with the decision maker’s requirement regarding gross profits, without any
change in the operating pattern of the clinic, as far as the manpower level is
concerned.
3.1. Specification of the Problem Decision Variables
• The first 10 decision or choice variables X i (i = 1,...,10) are
already defined in Table 3 and refer to the number of personnel in
group i.
— Variables X 11 ...X 20 , stand for the salary cost of each group.
— Variable X 21 denotes total salary cost at the final year.
— Variables X 22 ...X 31 refer to the total working hours, observed in
the 5th column of Table 4.
