getting out of this just because your husband is wrong sometimes or
because he isn’t a Christian.
Let me take a moment to talk about why God has established order in
the first place. Satan has a special hatred for women because they are
used of God to bring forth life in the earth and satan is the God of
death. Many women also make great intercessors and prophets of the
Lord because of their sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. So satan has devised
a plan to destroy women, and it is called a Jezebel spirit. This
spirit deceives women (especially hurt women) into a false sense of
strength, protection, and control. It leads them into rebellion against
God and his word and ultimately leads to death. God saw this and
placed male authority over women from the beginning. Like Paul
brought out when he said Adam was created first then Eve. We see
God continue the pattern when he called Abraham, established Moses
and Aaron over Israel, established David over the nation as a king, and
when Jesus picked twelve men to establish New Testament authority.
It is very obvious that authority is something established in men, but
both men and women can be used mightily of God.
Being covered
Women can have gifts and anointings, at times greater than men, but
that does not mean they can function in these gifts and anointings in
rebellion to male authority and be blessed of God. We read in
1Corinthians 11 that Paul teaches about women having their heads
covered which speaks of being under authority. He also teaches it
would be a shame for the roles to be reversed by having a woman
cover a man in an authority role (which is what we see in the Jezebel
and Ahab spirits). Paul teaches this when he says,
“Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the
head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man
who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head
(Christ). And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered
dishonors her head­­it is just as though her head were shaved.
If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off
(speaking of the anointing symbolically like we see in Samson); and if
it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she
should cover her head (submit to authority). A man ought not to cover
his head, since he is the image of God and glory of God; but the
woman is the glory of man. For man did not come from woman, but
woman from man; neither was man created for woman, but woman for
man. For this reason, and because of the angels, the woman ought to
have a sign of authority on her head.” 1Cor 11:3­10
