Babylon the great
Part 3
Intro: Babylon “confusion” is spoken of in Revelation 17 as the great
whore (Jezebel). This speaks of spiritual Babylon which is satan’s kingdom
of rebellion. Chapter 18 of Revelation speaks of natural Babylon
with its economic system and ungodly living. We can see in Revelation
18:1­2 the Bible says “Babylon has fallen, has fallen!” It says fallen
twice to indicate both natural and spiritual Babylon falling.
1. Babylon’s Origin: A place of great rebellion (Prince of Persia
began his throne)
a. Original Garden of Eden
b. Tower of Babel once was erected by Nimrod
c. Weeping for Tammuz started (Ezekiel 8:14)
d. Seven great enemies of Israel: Egypt, Assyria, Babylon,
Medo­Persia, Greece, Rome, and the end time Revived
Rome (or revised Greece, or Babylon)
e. Three descriptions of the end time kingdom
Greece: because it has reproduced its culture (like Daniel saw in
the vision of the statue with Greece as the loins of bronze) into the
end time society with homosexuality, worship of the male body
(body sculpting), mythology and occult practices, Olympics and
worship of sports, and humanism (worship of man).
Rome: because it ruled with a rod of iron crushing anyone who
opposed it in any way. It possessed unity out of fear, great military
strength, and a very pagan culture.
Babylon: spiritual confusion, great pride, and great rebellion.
2. Babylon’s glory and downfall
