Vote, and Vote Morally Correct
We have a responsibility to vote. As a democratic nation we will answer
to God about the direction of the nation by who we vote in. We
should love and respect our leaders and pray for them regularly (1 Tim
2). I hear Christians that seem to hate our President. If that is you, why
do you hate you brother? He is only fulfilling prophecy given by Bob
Jones who received a vision from the Lord in 1999 and said, “There will
be a burning bush that will come out of Texas. It will be a battle to get
him re­elected his second term, but if he is, the “Burning Bush” would
(in the second half of his second term, and if the church would pray) do
much to end abortion, restrain homosexual marriage, bring prayer
back to the schools in America, and make a way for a godly successor.”
As it is 2006, I believe that we are in a decisive moment of the
fulfilling of that dream/vision right now. It was and is God’s will for him
to be in office. Those that are under an antichrist spirit’s mentality hate
our president, but those that know the Holy Spirit are thankful for a
godly Christian man in office.
Passive or War
Many hate the strong stance America has been forced to take with war.
“The argument rises that it is wrong for a predominantly Christian nation
to go to war. They point, of course, to Jesus as their model. Would
Jesus go to war? That question is only part of the equation. Christ set
the pattern not for governments but for disciples. As his disciple, I follow
him in the way of mercy and redemption. God’s command to governments
however is different from his word to disciples. Part of the
role of government is to administer justice and to exercise punishment.
Some may argue that this is Old Testament thinking, but the New Testament
is clear on this subject as well. Speaking in reference to governing
(or civil) authorities, Paul writes that secular governments, to
the degree that they execute their courts fairly, serve as ‘a minister of
God.’ Paul warns: ‘If you do what is evil, be afraid; for [a government]
does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an
avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.’(Romans
13:4) Because I follow Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, my job is to
exhibit Christ’s love and mercy, not be ‘an avenger who brings wrath.’
A national government though, in respect to the exercise of punishment
against evil, serves as ‘a minister of God’ when it brings wrath upon
