BROTHER GREG SMYTH RIP

Peacefully passed to eternal life on 16 th June 2013

May he rest in peace Amen.
Greg studied accountancy and commenced his first employment with the Australian Tax Office. He saw that
great opportunity existed outside of the Public Service so he resigned and with Colleen ran a successful
fishing and sporting goods importing business.
He was a committed Rotarian, attending regularly and assisting in all their community activities and fund
raising.
Greg had a wonderful devotion to Our Lady and tirelessly promoted the reciting of her special prayer “The
Rosary”. He and Colleen organised the unique one decade rosary beads to be distributed to Catenians, First
communicants in St. Joseph’s Parish, Lweza, Uganda, Africa and school children and adults in Australia.
The intentions of these people were placed on the altar of the Pauline Fathers in Sutton Forest.
You can be certain the World is a better place because of the thousands of prayers for the Blessed Virgin’s
intercession that Greg, Colleen and their helpers have been able to organise.
Brother Greg’s funeral was held with an overflowing church at “Our Lady of the Way” Sylvania on Thursday
20 th June 2013 at 11am. The Requiem Mass was concelebrated by Father Simon Kitimbo from Uganda and
Msgr. Brian Rayner.
