2. Confirmation of Previous Minutes
The minutes of the 2 April 2008 meeting were accepted.
3. Business Arising
Business was dealt with as per the agenda.
4. Correspondence
Jules received more information on teacher awards that will be dealt with at the
next meeting.
5. Aircraft Noise Celebration Event
Ros reported that the celebration assembly would be on 30 May at 10.30am. Both
Anthony Albanese and Carmel Tebbutt will attend. Unfortunately the assembly
clashes with the Chemistry Olympiad in Canberra but Janice will attend that event
with William Jackson in Ros’s place.
6. Principal’s report
Ros reported that David Osland had been at the school for much of the holidays
overseeing the electrical work. The electrical work has now been completed for
Wilkins but not Kilgour. This was delayed due to the rain. The work was then
scheduled for next week but has been delayed again due to the Fort St Festival.
Consequently Kilgour has no heaters at the moment.

Next week will be the new NAPLAN literacy and numeracy tests. Information
has been provided to all relevant parties. The school is using staff and HSC
invigilators to invigilate these exams.
Fort Street Festival takes place next Sunday 18 May.
There is a teacher strike day scheduled for Thursday 22 May but this has yet to be
confirmed.
Red Shield Day is on 25 May and students will be collecting donations.
David Osland has organized for ARES to present to the P&C regarding the new
website. The P&C have suggested that perhaps the work should be done in house,
but Ros is reluctant to do this as this has caused problems in the past. Instead we
are looking at having an external company design the website and intranet for
students and parents. Bruce also suggests looking at SAKAI.
Jasper suggests looking at Blackboard, but David Osland has already ruled this
out due to cost. Ros would like Jasper to speak to David Osland direct.
The school has received a letter of complaint from a local resident who is being
disturbed by community users at the weekends. David Osland has tried
unsuccessfully to speak to the resident. The school received a second letter today
and David has hand delivered a reply.
A new path was installed in the holidays for students, but this was vandalized
before it was even finished. Ros is concerned that some of these events are as a
result of bad feeling since the school has a new fence that stops residents from
accessing the oval.
7. Other Reports
Student Report
Carlo reported the results from the survey regarding the current school website
that shows that it is rarely used. The SRC has met with David Osland to combine
their survey questions to make one survey.
The biggest complaint was that information was out of date.
Students are keen to have a secure login with many students wanting forums.
Jasper added at this point that a forum would need a moderator and administrator,
but would be very valuable.
Ros reiterated that any assessment tasks placed on the website must be absolutely
secure and available only to students and not the general public.
Carlo also reported that the SRC has been busy with the Fort Street Festival.
P&C Report
No report as no P&C rep
Fortians Union Report
Don reported that the Fortians Union had met last night but there was little to
report. The numbers are very low and there was some discussion around how to
increase numbers. Bruce used Sydney University as an example of how alumni
are allocated an alumni email address that is kept current for them for future

eunions or communication. It was also suggested looking at a myspace page for
Fort Street. Ros thinks that DET may not allow that, however there needs to be
further discussion of how to engage alumni.
Foundation Report
No meeting.
8. Other Business
None
