OVERVIEW<br />

If you are working with adults in a<br />

teaching or facilitating role, this is<br />

the course for you. It emphasises the<br />

importance of planning, preparation<br />

and variety in teaching, encourages<br />

personal reflection, and is both<br />

challenging and enjoyable.<br />

Upon successful completion of the<br />

Introduction to Adult Learning module<br />

you will be awarded the Certificate in<br />

Adult Teaching qualification, and will also<br />

achieve Unit Standard 7102 and<br />

Unit Standard 7097.<br />

of the theories of adult learning<br />

• Establishing and maintaining a<br />

This is an open entry programme,<br />

however applicants must demonstrate<br />

effective reading, writing and oral skills.<br />

Your work experience and previous<br />

learning may count as credits towards<br />

this programme.<br />

(LEVEL 5) ES0401b<br />

STUDY: Part-time<br />

OVERVIEW<br />

If you’re involved in adult education and<br />

training in the public or private sector,<br />

this programme will teach you how to<br />

apply the latest theories and practices<br />

related to adult teaching and learning to<br />

your classrooms.<br />

It consists of four compulsory modules,<br />

including Introduction to Adult Learning,<br />

and three elective modules. There are<br />

45 credits in total and all modules have<br />

both a theoretical and practical focus.<br />

WHAT’S <strong>IN</strong>VOLVED<br />

Your tutor on this programme is an<br />

academic leader in their field and an<br />

expert in the module content and teaching<br />

approach. You will actually be teaching<br />

a group of students, designing courses<br />

and applying what you learn to your own<br />

teaching. Elements of this programme<br />

are on <strong>Wintec</strong>’s online teaching and<br />

learning system, Moodle, which means<br />

you can study anytime, anywhere there’s<br />

a computer connection.<br />

ENTRY CRITERIA - SUMMARY<br />

Candidates are required to have gained<br />

12 credits in English at NCEA Level 1 or<br />

an equivalent qualification. Candidates<br />

should also be working as adult educators<br />

or have access to an adult learning<br />

environment. Your work experience and<br />

previous learning may count as credits<br />

towards this programme.<br />
