This summer be sure to join us<br />
for <strong>on</strong>e <strong>of</strong> our many opportunities to get kids<br />
outside and loving the natural world. From<br />
family hikes and car camping, to self-guided<br />
activities to summer camp, there are many<br />
ways to GET KiDs OuTsiDE this summer.<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>Mountaineers</strong> Summer Camp<br />
is for kids entering any grade between first<br />
and sixth. Join <strong>The</strong> <strong>Mountaineers</strong> for two<br />
fun weeks <strong>of</strong> exploring, playing and learning<br />
<strong>Mountaineers</strong>-style: AuGusT 8-12 AND<br />
AuGusT 15-19. Each day will focus <strong>on</strong> a unique<br />
skill, with a culminating activity <strong>on</strong> Friday.<br />
Campers will be able to swim <strong>on</strong> days when<br />
camp is located at Magnus<strong>on</strong> Park. Each day<br />
campers will play games, learn new skills, and<br />
engage in ONGOiNG sTEWArDsHiP.<br />
Join us for a family potluck to cel-<br />
ebrate our summer’s adventures <strong>on</strong> suNDAY,<br />
AuGusT 21 from 4 to 7 pm at <strong>The</strong> <strong>Mountaineers</strong><br />
Program Center at Magnus<strong>on</strong> Park. We’ll<br />
recognize all the kids who participated in<br />
summer programs such as the HiKE TrACKEr<br />
or CLiMB TrACKEr, those who’ve followed<br />
the JuNiOr MOuNTAiNEErs book, and those<br />
who attended our summer camps. Also, if you<br />
have pictures <strong>of</strong> your summer adventures,<br />
submit them to beccap@mountaineers.org by<br />
M<strong>on</strong>day, August 15, to have them included in<br />
our slideshow. Bring a dish to share, dress for<br />
our climbing walls, and rsVP <strong>on</strong> our website.<br />

Summer’s here! Whether your inner-child is ready to explore or you just need some<br />
fresh air, being active outdoors is <strong>on</strong>e <strong>of</strong> the best ways to stay healthy. if you’ve been<br />
hunkering down while waiting for the sun to appear, feeling completely out <strong>of</strong> shape, or<br />
training for some serious hikes, there are many ways for you to get in <strong>on</strong> the fun.<br />
Looking to try something new? Are you new to <strong>The</strong> <strong>Mountaineers</strong> and feeling<br />
overwhelmed with opti<strong>on</strong>s? Click <strong>on</strong> Getting Started Series in the activity <strong>sea</strong>rch <strong>of</strong> our<br />
website to find a variety <strong>of</strong> activities designed for new members or folks new to an activity.<br />
New this summer! We’ll be <strong>of</strong>fering top-rope <strong>rock</strong> climbing outings at some <strong>of</strong> our<br />
local crags. <strong>The</strong> <strong>on</strong>ly prerequisite is that you know how to belay, which can be d<strong>on</strong>e at <strong>on</strong>e <strong>of</strong><br />
