Littleland, November, 2009.
1
A new job
My grandparents passed away so they left a legacy to my mother that
help us to survived all these years and some of that money served me
to graduate from the college as an editor and fashion designer also
my sister studied modeling for a year in Paris which resulted costly.
-No, not die please I beg you!-
-Tell me tell me something!!!-
-Aleeeex!!!!!- These were my cries begging the love of my life that
did not die as he hovered between life and death in a cold hospital
room.
The worst experience anyone can live in life is to see the death of the
person you love.
My name is Tarina, Tarina Reynolds and four years ago my
boyfriend Alex died from a traffic accident, he was the person I loved
most in this world and left me.
I have lived in Littleland with my sister Katy Reynols and my mother
Noelia Mart since my father abandoned us.
My relationship with Katy was good although we are very different,
she was 18 years old, she was blonde, green eyes like my mother and
was very thin while I am dark brown hair, average height, light
brown eyes and last but not least I have freckles on my face I was 23
year old but everyone thought that I was younger than Katy.
My family had no money for nothing.
While I was thinking about all that -¡Ring!Ring - my phone rang I
received a call from a foreign company which I had applied to get a
job as editor of a very famous magazine called "Voue".
-Yes?! - I answered.
-Hello? With miss Tarina Reynols? - A voice
said kindly.
-Yup! Yes! I am. How can I help you?-I said.
-I'm calling to tell you that you have been
selected to work in the publishing of the magazine "Voue" -
I could not believe I was so excited that I just knew I had to travel to
London England tomorrow.
I got home and told everything to my mother and my sister.
-I'm happy for you- Said my mother with a ragged voice and his deep
green eyes started to slip a tear.

My sister said -Go and forgets about Alex!- What I would downplay
because she, my sister does not know how difficult it is to deal with
the memory of someone who is dead.
That night I could not sleep because I knew the next day everything
would change for me, I just close my eyes when I heard:
-Tarina! Tarina – Shouted my mother because it was morning
already.
-I’m going - I answered and I knew that my mother was telling me to
fix bags because in the afternoon I was going to take my flight to
London.
After fixing my bags I went for a walk last time to the center of my
town called Littleland every person who hears that name laughs
because it was a small city that does honor to its name but I still love
living here.
Walking through the city center taking my coffee I could notice how
pretty it was the old buildings, old trees and people obviously I was
going to miss everything.
-Hi! Tarina - My best friend said and walked towards me.
-Hi! Bella How are you? - I answered very sad because it was the last
time I’ll see her in five years that is duration of the contract with the
publisher.
I told her about I was going to London and everything else.
-I'll miss you so much you know you're like a sister to me- Bella said
very sad.
Bella always was smiling but today his smile had disappeared maybe
she really was going to miss me.
We said good bye with hugs thing that I did not like very much but y
I let her hug me. Bella is a little chubby so I just could hardly cover
her with my arms.
Was time to go I took my bags and said goodbye to my mother and
my sister Katy too.
-Daughter I hope you get a good husband there in London- My
mother said very quietly.
-¡Not even a year ago that died the guy who I loved most so I could
not even think in marry me with someone more!-
My mother was a woman of 50 years old who has suffered much it
shows up in her dry skin and gray hair so I did not feel sad to leave
her because I know that I was going to help her with the money that I
was going to earn working in the publisher.

My sister will surely take care of my mother.
I thought.
I remembered Alex and everything that we
lived together and I knew that hardly was I
going to forget him but maybe in London I
could overcome it somehow.
I smiled warmly to my mother and I left.

The man on the plane
On the plane I sat next to the window to see the scenery through the
window it was round and small which I thought was funny because I
had never seen an airplane for the inside nor had traveled in them.
I was nervous about everything new I was going to live and be on the
plane made it worse even more. In the seat next to me had no one
sitting so I figured I could put my briefcase there.
A guy came to sit beside me and asked me permission I remove my
wallet and put it in my legs.
-Hello- I said in a very low tone of voice waiting for him not to
listen.
He had navy blue eyes in which I lost
for a few seconds. His hair was black
and had a piercing in his left ear. I
could not stop watching him until he
said.
-Is something wrong?- To which I replied quickly:
-No, no not at all-
I put on my headphones and listened to music all the way otherwise I
would not have stopped seeing this guy who was wearing a blue
jacket that matches his eyes.
I did not know why I wanted to know his name but there was no
chance the man fell asleep all the time.
The aircraft landed and as it was night I saw the lights of all the
beautiful city of London from the sky.
Something happened to me that I could not stop watching the boy.
Getting off the plane he was wearing a sunglass which was strange
because it was dark but hey I admit it fit well with him and looked
even better when he took off the hair from her face. He went on a
luxury car that came to the airport, just so I could take my eyes off
him.
He turned and looked to me in the eyes.

I had to wait for a taxi because here I did not know anyone who could
come for me; those of the publisher only gave me the address of my
new apartment building and office.
Finally reach the building where would be my new home for five
years or so I hoped.
It was not as large but had what I needed a room, a small kitchen and
living room. The apartment was fully furnished elegantly.
I fell asleep from 6pm to 8am the next day that trip left me very tired.

Jared Black Voue
Six months after I got here everything was fine I was great as editor
of the magazine that was very successful and I could also send
money to my mother to pay debts and to buy an IPad with which she
communicated with me Skype.
I took my cellphone and called my mom who told me:
-Your sister Katy is very sick because she signed a contract with a
famous brand which required much about her appearance that she
ended getting sick-
I listened to my mom worried but at that time I was far so I could not
help them.
My sister wrote me an email that said:
-Tarina I'll never eat anymore- I thought she was joking but no.
-Katy you can not stop eating- I replied thinking she was joking.
I needed to relax a little so I went for a run one afternoon.
What a surprise in the park was the same guy who was on the plane
six months ago!
He looked at me and walked towards me I was very nervous also I
was shaking. I did not know if I was afraid or if he really liked me.
-Hi! I have seen you before. Isn’t it? - He said.
-I do not know- I said to pretend I did not care.
-Do you live around here? – He continued talking.
Yes a few minutes of here- I answered.

-Nice to meet you my name is Jared Black. What is your name? – He
asked me.
-Nice to meet you too my name is Tarina Reynols- I did not want to
answer him but at least he was being polite.
We continued talking the rest of the afternoon and when we least
expect it got dark.
-I have to go- I said though I did not really want to go but I lived
about fifteen minutes from here and I did not come here by car so I
had to walk back and the later is more dangerous it is.
-If you want I can accompany you to your house so do not go alone-
Jared said.
I did not know what to answer, but I finished saying yes.
-There is - I announced pointing with my finger at my building.
Stop! - I exclaimed terrified for a moment I thought that he was Alex
my boyfriend who was dead and I was going very fast with Jared.
-What's the matter? I am not going to eat you- Said Jared His English
was not good to judge by how he speaks he is not British.
-Sorry is not my intention to offend you but I have to go to my
apartment- I said this while I was crying.
When I entered to my room -¡Ring!Ring!- My phone rang.
It was my mother who was crying because my sister ended in the
hospital due to her illness. My sister was already naturally thin plus
my mom said she stopped eating, self-medicated and vomited to have
his empty stomach. The doctors diagnosed her deep anorexia
nervosa.
So sad I woke up the next morning after the alarm
went off.
I see my little gold watch that I was wearing in my
hand and I realized that was too late to go to work. I
just past and look me in the mirror and I run to my
job.
When we was saying good bye without realizing we kissed.

Outside of my building was Jared. Try to conceal and not make any
gesture with my face but that's too hard because I'm very expressive.
Surely I did some gesture of disgust.
-Hello! - Jared said so excited I did not know what to do but I got
nervous.
-Hello Jared! What a surprise to see you here. What are you doing
here? – I asked.
–I wanted to know more about you also yesterday you were a little
nervous so I thought came to see how you felt today– Apparently
Jared was interested in me.
–I feel fine Jared thanks- I continued to wonder what he really was
doing here.
–As you have no car today I'll take you to work- Jared exclaimed.
–No I do not need that I used to take the bus every day-I said that
because I did not want to get more involved with him because he
reminded me so much of my ex that sickened me.
Finally he convinced me and I went with him to work.
We arrived and before unloaded the car he smiled and said:
–Someone whom I know very well works here too- Very happy Jared
said.
When I got out of the car my boss came towards us.
–Good morning son– My boss Mark Voue said.
–Good morning father– Jared exclaimed and made a reverence.
How I did not think before? My boss has a certain resemblance to
Jared. The same blue eyes and the same
height.
I could not believe Jared Kim Black is the
son of my boss that made me want to
know more about Jared surely is the heir to
the fortune of Mark Voue.
I did not come here to marry with a
millionaire but the truth is that this was a
great opportunity to have money for me and my family since my
sister was sick I was the only hope and also I had to completely
forget Alex unless I would live all my life unhappy remembering
someone who is gone.
Do you work here? -
-Yes! This is where I work- I answered.

The date
A very rainy afternoon I had nothing to do and I was getting bored of
loneliness so I started to read books in this case I was reading my
favorite book called "Late Autumn" when I received a message.
-Tanina Hello! Do you want to go to the mall to take a coffee with
me-Was Jared who wanted to go out with me.
-Yes! At 6 pm it is ok? - I replied.
I dressed as nice as I could in a Maxi-dress of black color with
transparency in the back but always discreet.
The makeup was also striking that accentuated the brown color of
my eyes and my lips makeup on red.
I do not want to overdo anyway whether it was a meeting between
friends and not a "date".
I liked Jared but not to the point of being in love with him.
-Listen to the sound of the car outside my building immediately-
¡knock!Knock - Jared was knocking on the door.
I opened the door and there he was as
handsome as ever and that day brought a
sleeve of his shirt collection that let see his
left arm where he had a tattoo with the name
of his mother Min Black.
While we were on the car I asked him about
his mother and he said:
-My mother was Asian and I'm from there
too but I came to London to help my father
with the company publisher- That explains why his English was not
so good. His mother was Asian and his father was British.
While we were at The Coffee Coffee a very elegant place where you
can take a coffee Jared turned to me with her deep blue eyes I could
swear that he wanted to say something.
He smiled and said: What did you do today? You look beautiful-
-I only used more makeup than usual- I answered.
We talked for a long time and finish knowing all of his life until his
mother died in a fire when he was a kid, then we went for a walk and
when we were walking I saw a photography of my sister Katy as a
model so I told Jared that she was my younger sister and that I was
proud of her for having achieved success in the modeling world but
had worked so hard and get sick.

-Your sister is beautiful but not as much as
your Tarina- Jared said and I blushed because
in my life was Katy who drew attention for
being blonde and prettier than I am the only
man who told me that I was beautiful was
Alex.
We got back to my apartment and Jared did not ask me to be his
girlfriend but he stayed a moment with me.
When he said goodbye he stole me a kiss on the lips and then were
many more without we realizing overnight step.
I wanted to stop him but he reminded me times that spent with Alex I
felt really real that I was with him.
Before leaving Jared gave me some keys and asked me to be his
girlfriend:
-Tarina Reynolds Will you be my girlfriend?- Asked him and put me
some gray keys in my hands.

Men on Black
Then one day I was walking down the street when I felt someone was
following me.
The streets I had to go for work is not alone but there are parts where
are some alleys between buildings and if someone follows you
obviously reaches you that you have nowhere to hide and nowhere to
run.
I started running towards my work but when I ran the fat man in
black who came after me also ran grabbed my right hand, he cover
my mouth and tried to take me but I hit him in the head with an
umbrella that was in my wallet I thought it would not hurt him but he
fell to the floor fainted.
I kept running but two others men on motorcycles chased me and the
last thing I remember from that time was a white robe in my eyes.
Then I woke up in a dark place that smelled bad and where was a
group of men dressed in black.
–What am I doing here? –I asked knowing that they would not
respond me because I clearly had kidnapped but the question was
why?
––Shut up or would you like we cover your mouth with something? -
Said one of those horrible guys with a more horrible voice.
Just wanted to know why you brought me here - I insisted.
-¿Do you know Jared Voue - Said a thin man with a huge scar on his
face.

–Why ask me that question?- I did not want to give more information
to those crazy.
–Are you Jared's girlfriend whether or not? - Asked a man who came
to me and threatened me with a knife.
What your little boyfriend has not told you that his mother is died?
We killed her because they did not pay on time for her rescue and
also another Jared’s girlfriend died in the same way and if they do not
hurry to pay us within 7 days all the money we asked Mark Voue,
you will die too- Said the most evil and horrible human I've ever met
in my life.
Jared did not tell me that his mother died in the hands of criminals or
that one of his girlfriends also died. I was so confused and scared.
I just heard the voices of men making phone calls and asking for
money to let me out.
On the third day Jared spoke with me:
-Someone wants to talk to you- said the man and then I throw the
phone in hands.
-Tarina, Tarina my love do not worry- Jared was crying and said
those words.
I just remember the day when my father told my mother that
everything would be fine if we were together then he leave us and
never return.
Why the Jared’s father will pay for my rescue if he not even paid for
his wife? I thought.
This perhaps could be my last day of life and I was there crying
because of a man again.
What would my mother and Katy thinking without knowing about
me for more than three days?
I'd been there for more than three days without food I had no
strength at all.
Suddenly-Boom!- I listened to the sound of gunshots so I turned
down.
The sounds of sirens of police cars were also heard.
Someone entered to the dark and filthy house and said:
-I come to help you-Was an angel dressed as a policeman.
As soon as possible the police took me to the station where Jared was
when I saw him I knew he had not lied to me and everything went
well thanks to him.
I hugged him we were both crying I felt that he really loved me.

I called my mother to tell her that I was fine and I was glad to hear
his voice but did not say anything about the kidnapping anyway I was
safe, or so I hoped.
Jared told me that everything about his mother was certain she was
murdered by criminals who received bailout money but failed to
complete the deal and ended up killing her anyway. One of his exgirlfriends
disappeared too. That's why Jared always lived in Asia
because his father did not wanted anyone hurt him and also Jared
does not carry the name Voue because when I he was kid was in
danger.
-Tarina Do you remember the keys I gave you the day I asked you to
my girlfriend? - Jared said.
-Yes there are on my jewelry- I took off the keys from the gold
jewelry and showed them to Jared.
-It was a surprise for you just the day of the kidnapped I was going to
give you the car that I bought you because I did not want to go
walking alone on the streets-
-Too late!! - I said with a teasing tone.
-Accidents will happen! Is not it?
Jared went to his father's house and it was fine because I need time to
be alone and to assimilate the madness that had lived the previous
days.
I thought everything would be different here that nothing bad would
happen to me but it was the same and I wanted to know whether or
not dating Jared, because his life was like mine full of
disappointments and loss of loved ones to best not we should have
never been together.

Marry me?
That day I wanted to tell him that our relationship would not work
but he came with a bouquet of red roses and dressed very handsome
and invited me to dinner at a restaurant.
-Tarina Do you want to go out to dinner with me? These beautiful
flowers are for you- Jared had his blue eyes as bright as a star that
could not refuse.
Not sure if it was a good idea but I accepted.
Let me put the roses in water.
-Okay! You look beautiful - Jared exclaimed while he smiled
warmly.
I wore a red dress it was my favorite and perhaps I wanted to
encourage a little and leave behind all the sadness that had lived
before.

The restaurant which we went to was so fine that was all glass lamps
hanging from the ceiling like gold and all the customers seemed to be
very wealthy and elegant people.
After eating Jared stood and turned to me rather then knelt on one
knee his face turned red and with a manly voice
exclaimed:
-Tarina will you marry me? -
Some violinists started playing a beautiful song and all
eyes turned to Jared and me.
My eyes were wide open and did not know how to react at that time
was shocked.
I knew he like me but I did not think Jared would ask me to marry
him.
-Yes- I said with such a low voice that indicated how nervous I was.
Jared took my hand kiss me on the cheek and put the ring on my ring
finger it was lovely with a huge diamond that only in my dreams I
had seen.
-What do you think if we got married in a month?- He suggested.
My heart was pounding so hard to overcome my strength so much
that I could not answer anything just hugged him and nodded.
When Jared burned me and I was in his arms I felt protected and also
worried that the same things could happen to him like Alex and leave
me alone.
I called my mother and Katy to break the news..
We prepared everything perfectly and I design my own wedding
dress because I was so excited.

Again
One morning a week before to my wedding my sister called me
screaming.
-Tarina! I need you- Shrieked Katy.
- Katy what happens? Calm down- I asked my sister to stall and tell
me what happened.
-Our mother has died of a heart attack 15 minutes ago- Katy said
louder.
What? My world fell.
I went to Littleland as fast as I could without telling Jared anything.
I went into my house and hugged Katy who was crying.

That house in which everything seemed to be well where we could
spend happy times playing with dolls and sing with my mother and
my sister when we were kids today was totally gray and happiness
that there felt since you walked out the door had gone with my
mother who was inside of a wooden box and I ran to see my mother's
face that was pale and his eyes were closed as if she slept I wanted to
wake up her and shouted but it was impossible.
Was handing me again I felt the impotence of wanting to make
someone I loved come to life.
The days passed slowly and mother made her absence felt throughout
the house.
I turned on my cell phone after four days of being in Littleland and
saw that I had as more than 20 Jared’s calls.
I felt bad for him and for not telling him about my mother but as I
was very excited with the wedding that did not want to feel bad but
what another explanation could give to him.
Katy was the only family I had left in the world so I decided to take it
with me to London.
And so it was we postponed the wedding but Jared and I decided to
move in together so I could leave my apartment to Katy who had
already gotten a job as a model for the same magazine company
where I worked as an editor.
Months later Jared and I decided to have a baby but it was
impossible.
The doctor said I could not have a baby because I was infertil.
-Miss Reynolds regret to inform you that you are infertile because of
a broken suffered in your hip- The doctor said and then I remembered
that the day that Alex had the accident I was with him in the car and
also received a blow to the hip.
Jared and I took a huge disappointment and even more I wanted to be
mom to have a baby to be loved.

A new chance
As I was so sad Jarded came home one night after work with a
beautiful bouquet of flowers and told me if it was okay if we got
married the following weekend.
I'm not excited because I have had enough love to
know that this raises you then let you fall.
I knew that Jared loved me because he was always
with me since I came to London and never leave me alone.
I accept the proposal from Jared for that reason.

Our house was very large and old as Jared said it was his
grandmother's house it had a huge garden which always smelled of
flowers also was very thin its floors were marble and the ceiling hung
a crystal chandeliers that I loved.
I got married with Jared.
Two years later I had a surprise that give to Jared a surprise that
would leave him open mouth.
I call my sister so she would be there too because I wanted both to
knew about the big news.
That day I had to work and the office was full of folders and books
what is normal but I wanted to finish the job faster to get home early
before Jared and my sister.
Telephone Jared:
-Hi! Honey will you leave work early today?- Asked anxious.
-I'll go a little late and what about you? – Jared said.
-Same I’ll leave very late- I said that because I did not wanted he
suspected nothing of what I had to say.
Ultimately Jared was coming very late from work and barely had
time for me and so was getting a bit distant with me I hoped the knew
that I was going to say that day reactivate our relationship.
I finished concentrating on my work and I got to post a picture of my
sister in the magazine.
Katy was a beautiful model and was working very hard but
sometimes while I phoned her I listened her very
nervous.
I achieved finish all the work early.
It was around 4 pm when I got home and the Jared’s
black Hummer was already there I figured he had gone
earlier from his work even he told me otherwise.
Then I lower my car was a gray Cadillac Escalade after I opened the
door of my house and put my keys and my purse on a glass table
which was across the door.
I looked for Jared everywhere on the first floor of the house and he
was not there and I thought he was perhaps in the room on the second
floor so I went and as I climbed I heard the voice of my sister, so she
also was in the home before me.

What the hell?
When I was up I went to the door of my room and opened it carefully
and saw something that left me with the mouth open so that my jaw

almost drops to the ground, rapidly a tear fell on my cheek as what
my eyes were seeing was the worst betrayal of all.
Jared was passionately kissing my sister Katy.
-Damn! What the hell is going on here?– I was shouting that was all I
could think.
Jared released mirroring Katy who had a scared face like mine.
The expression in the eyes of Jared was heartbreaking it was he who
loves both after of thinking I would never love anyone.
My eyes could not believe what they saw I thought it was a dream.
-It's my fault- Jared Snapped.
-Your fault? – I shout with a stronger voice than I wanted.
No, it’s my fault Tarina I never should have come up here- Katy said
through tears.
I passed from being so happy to be sad again.
I kept silent for a few seconds trying to inhale and exhale air to calm
down.
-The heart wants what it wants - Katy exclaimed.
I was already calmed down but when Katy said it I felt like my heart
was wrinkled like when I saw Alex died, my mother dead in a box
and my father abandoning us I just felt the same.
-Tarina Forgive is that your sis ... sist ... - Stuttering Jared.
-Yes, if my sister is beautiful is blond and taller than me blah-blahblah
I already know that story Jared!- I interrupted him before he end
speaking.
The least I wanted to hear were ridiculous excuses so I went down to
the first floor of the house and turned my back on them.
-Tarina- Both shouted in chorus.
I of course did not stop but they followed me all the way down Jared
strong took my hand.
-This is all crazy- Said Jared.
-I'm sorry the heart wants what it wants so get out because that is
what my heart wants right now- I Point to the door.
Jared unloosed my hand and motioned with his head to Katy to leave
the house.
When they were outside I went to our bedroom and from the balcony
I began to pull everything of Jared’s things outside.
The neighbors were watching everything that was going on.

Embarrassed and angry Jared climbed the Hummer and told Katy that
she also should climb and then quickly leave.

All dead.
I did not know what to do it was another stupid scene of my life.
I was sick of crying, tired of trying, yes I’m smiling now but inside
I’m dying too.
At the end I learned that love hurts because life is not a fairytale.
My brow was furrowed all the time and that feeling of helplessness
came over me.
Until that day I understood why Katy was nervous when I was on the
phone and that Jared was acting so cold with me.
My knees felt weak and a sense of worry invaded my soul and my
mind when I remembered that Jared driving the car too fast when this
angry.
It was within minutes that they come back Jared came into the house
took his gun and shot against Katy then he pointed the gun at me.
.
-Are you stupid Jared? Who are you?- I asked terrified.
-All of us will be death- Said Jared.
He was going to shot me when I screamed:
-Please do not do it I am pregnant- I said.
His eyes well up and the he committed suicide.
I only hear the sound of the shooting through his chest.
