Überall auf der Welt wird mit Whisky angestossen, um
die speziellen Momente im Leben zu zelebrieren. Experten
sind sich bis heute uneins, ob Whisky im 6. Jahrhundert
von irischen Missionaren oder von Mönchen aus den
schottischen Highlands erfunden wurde. Heute bezieht
sich Whisky ohne ‘e’ auf schottischen Whisky (trotz der
gleichen Namensgebung in Kanada und Japan), während
Whiskies in Irland, den USA und den übrigen Ländern
mit ‘e’ geschrieben werden. Die Herkunft, die Zutaten,
die Abmischung, das Alter und die Qualität beeinflussen
die Whisky-Sorten massgeblich. Das Grundrezept aber
Experts may argue whether it originates from sixth century
Irish missionaries or monks from the Scottish highlands,
but whisky is indisputably a drink enjoyed all over the
world to celebrate many different occasions. Reflecting
those contentious origins, the label ‘whisky’ usually refers
to a Scottish heritage (despite the same usage in Canada
and Japan), whereas most other countries, such as Ireland
and the USA, produce ‘whiskey’. There are countless
grades and styles of whiskies (and whiskeys) to choose
from around the globe, each influenced by unique origins,
heritage, rarity, ingredients, blends, age and quality.
