Graham Elementary School Supply Drive Aug 15–31. Bring items by the <strong>SGA</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice. (Room 228/229 Student Center)<br />

Parking Space Raffle Aug 15–31. The <strong>SGA</strong> will be raffling <strong>of</strong>f a parking space for the entire <strong>2012</strong>-13 academic year.<br />

Tickets are $1 each or $5 for 6. ALL proceeds go to the ACC Foundation. 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be<br />

$50 & $25 gas cards. The drawing will take place on Fri, Aug 31 at noon, so make sure you enter for a chance to win!<br />

ESPN.com <strong>College</strong> Pickem / ESPN.com Pigskin Pickem August 15th–Until. <strong>College</strong> Pickem challenges you to select the<br />

winner <strong>of</strong> 10 selected games for 14 weeks during the NCAA football season using a confidence scoring system. Pigskin<br />

pickem winner <strong>of</strong> each NFL game throughout the 17 week regular season. Play against your fellow faculty, staff, and<br />

on our tour to learn more about the Advising Center, Skills Lab, LRC, and more...<br />

“Success in Life” Dr. David Washington Tues Aug 28 Noon–1:30 pm. Dr. Washington explains the role <strong>of</strong> perspective,<br />

effort, and courage in reaching personal goals. Participants will receive practical and actionable advice to develop their<br />

own life plan.<br />

Balancing a Healthy Life Workshop/Time Management (L&L) Wed/Thurs Aug 29/30 12:30–1:30 pm. What do you do when<br />

your child is sick and you have a paper due? If being a student has made your life messier, come learn how to manage<br />

it all and meet others who are too!<br />

<strong>SGA</strong> Movie Night at Carousel Cinemas Fri Aug 24th. Stop by the <strong>SGA</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice for your free movie ticket!<br />

Study Skills Workshop (L&L) Brownell & Flowers Wed/Thurs Sept 12/13 12:30–1:30pm.<br />

This workshop will help you develop strategies on how to become a more successful student.<br />

Money Management Workshop Wed Sept 19th. Need help saving money? Come listen to the experts give you tips on<br />

saving, and ways to be frugal with your spending.<br />

“The Four P’s To <strong>College</strong> Success” Griffin Thurs Sept 27th. The Four P’s will assist participants in gaining a clear<br />

understanding <strong>of</strong> their purpose, creating a holistic model to maintain their plan, evaluate previous practices <strong>of</strong><br />

procrastination and ultimately how to enhance their pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism.<br />

International Festival Fri Sept 28 4:30–10:00 pm In its 27th year, the International Festival is a cultural and artistic<br />

event that showcases music, dance, cuisine, art, and cultural education from 55 diverse cultures.<br />

Family Ice Skating Night Sat Oct 6th. Come skate with <strong>SGA</strong> at the Hillsborough Sportsplex. Bring your family, bring a<br />

friend, and come “chill” with us for some family fun.<br />

If you send emails to your instructors in text language, this is for you! If you are applying for jobs or college admission<br />

and your Facebook pr<strong>of</strong>ile is set to “Public,” this is for you!<br />

Career Inventory 12:30-1:30 pm Mon Oct 29. Not sure about what you want to major in, or which career you want to<br />

pursue? Stop by the advising center to take the career inventory.<br />

“Maintaining a Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Image” Dowe Tues Oct 30 12:00–1:30 pm. Do you get nervous preparing for interviews?<br />

If so, come learn strategies to help you always put your best foot forward.<br />

Resume Writing Wed Oct 31 10am-noon. Gain insight into the best way to land an interview by learning the latest<br />

trends in resume writing, cover letter strategies, resume styles, and formats.<br />

Speed Interviewing Wed Oct 31 12:30–2 pm. Do you need to brush up on your interviewing skills? Are you prepared for<br />

most interview questions? If not, we invite you to come practice with us in preparation for the upcoming career fair.<br />

“Are you LinkedIn?” (L&L) Brownell & Flowers Thurs Nov. 1 12:30–1:30 pm. Do you want to enrich your pr<strong>of</strong>essional life<br />

and meet more people in your field? Participants in our LinkedIn workshop will set up an account, create a pr<strong>of</strong>ile,<br />

make connections, learn about the job search functions, and more.<br />

Test Anxiety (L&L) Flowers Wed / Thurs Nov 14/15 12:30–1:30 pm. Feeling nervous? Make your anxiety work for you!<br />

Get some tips on how to turn the tables on test anxiety and prevent it from overwhelming you in the future.<br />

Exam Cram Thurs Dec 6 9 am–2 pm. Student activities center Are you ready for your final exams? If not, <strong>SGA</strong> and the<br />

Social & Behavioral Sciences Department are sponsoring Exam Cram for students needing a quiet place to study and<br />

some last minute test prep.
