Use focus groups, informal interviews or surveys <strong>to</strong> determine the workplace culture. Assess current agency practices <strong>an</strong>d how these c<strong>an</strong> be improved.<br />

• Who influences the culture? How c<strong>an</strong> these people be engaged?<br />

• Do leaders have the awareness <strong>an</strong>d skills <strong>to</strong> promote age diversity?<br />

• Does the agency have practices, programs or policies in place <strong>to</strong> support age diversity? Are these moni<strong>to</strong>red <strong>an</strong>d evaluated? What are the challenges<br />

<strong>an</strong>d risks?<br />

• What specific behaviours need action?<br />

• Is advice needed <strong>to</strong> implement ch<strong>an</strong>ges?<br />

• Is the business case for age diversity widely promoted in the agency?<br />

4. Is the recruitment practice age-inclusive?<br />

Use surveys or focus groups <strong>to</strong> obtain views on recruitment <strong>an</strong>d advertising practices. Evaluate the results of recent recruitment <strong>an</strong>d induction strategies.<br />

• Does the agency use recruitment as part of a strategy <strong>to</strong> achieve age bal<strong>an</strong>ce?<br />

• Where does the agency currently advertise?<br />

• Who do the advertisements target?<br />

• What is the image that the agency portrays?<br />

• Do agency advertising <strong>an</strong>d selection processes deliver a wide r<strong>an</strong>ge of c<strong>an</strong>didates?<br />

• Are JDFs age inclusive?<br />

• Are there age differences in the length of time new recruits stay with the agency?<br />

• Do new recruits of different ages find the induction program/processes effective <strong>an</strong>d supportive?<br />
