City of İstanbul<br />
jams. Every day it removes almost<br />
100km of vehicle convoys from traffic,<br />
with Park and Go car parks providing<br />
service from 35 heavy-traffic points<br />
with 10,000 vehicle capacity throughout<br />
the city. Located at points close to<br />
bus stops, stations and ports, almost<br />
2.3 million people benefit from Park<br />
and Go annually.<br />
Electrical vehicle charging stations:<br />
Metropolitan Municipality have also installed<br />
electrical vehicle charging stations<br />
at its open and multistorey car<br />
parks. Ready for service at 12 points,<br />
charging stations are to be found<br />
around the city.<br />
İstanbul reclaims its environment:<br />
İstanbul Landscape & Parks Department<br />
carries out production, maintenance,<br />
construction and sale activities<br />
and is also involved in R&D activities re<br />
trees and landscaping. Projects involve<br />
52million m2 of land across İstanbul.<br />
İstanbul enjoys its green spaces: 147<br />
crossroads, 312 parks and coastline<br />
parks 803 acres in total were planted<br />
2005-2014 thanks to the activities of<br />
İstanbul Landscape & Parks Department.<br />
1,981,885 trees were planted<br />
throughout İstanbul and 334,392,358<br />
seasonal flower were grown. 5.5 million<br />
m2 of new green areas were<br />
created. İstanbul Landscape & Parks<br />
Department carried out irrigation activities<br />
on 41,755,198 m2 land in total. In<br />
2014, 3,254,380m2 of rollout lawn was<br />
planted across İstanbul and projects<br />
were applied on 765,000 m2 land.<br />
Flower of the world produced<br />
in İstanbul: İstanbul Landscape & Parks<br />
Department works across an area of<br />
470,000 m2 using 400 suppliers and<br />
planting 1.6 million roses, 5 million tulips,<br />
61 million seasonal flowers with a<br />
450,000 m3 soil mixture being produced<br />
annually.<br />
The Hotel Greening Project<br />
Bureau Veritas and the Turkish Hotels<br />
and Investors Association (TUROB)<br />
came together to give a green light to<br />
The Hotel Greening Project in order to<br />
move the environmental agenda forward<br />
with İstanbul’s hotels by encouraging<br />
them to implement environmentally<br />
friendly strategies. The pilot project<br />
came to life during the 5th World Water<br />
Forum’s ‘Green Forum Initiative’ to raise<br />
awareness on hotel greening techniques<br />
and also to encourage participating hotels<br />
to take the first step toward greener<br />
accommodation. 26 hotels volunteering<br />
to participate in the Hotel Greening<br />
Project were audited according to measurements<br />
of energy efficiency, water<br />
conservation and waste management<br />
practices, among other criteria. Hotels<br />
attaining a minimum standard received<br />
a certificate from Bureau Veritas and<br />
