Inside Sultanahmet<br />

Mosque<br />

by Emperor Justinian and it was used<br />

as a church until 1453.<br />

When Mehmed 11 which was Ottoman<br />

Sultan on that period conquered İstanbul<br />

in 1453, it was converted from<br />

church to a mosque. In 1935, Mustafa<br />

Kemal Ataturk converted it to a museum.<br />

Blue Mosque - Sultan Ahmet Camii<br />

(Closed on Friday Mornings because<br />

of the Friday Prayer)<br />

Imperial Mosque of Sultan Ahmet<br />

(1609-1 616) is one of the great masterpieces<br />

of the world and it is the last<br />

sample of classical Ottoman architecture.<br />

The name “Blue” comes from the famous<br />

blue lznik (Nicea) tiles which<br />

adorn the entire interior of the<br />

mosque. It is also the only Ottoman<br />

mosque with 6 minarets among the<br />

other mosques.<br />

Hippodrome of Constantinople - Sultanahmet<br />

Meydanı<br />

Being used as an arena for chariot races,<br />

athletic activities and rebellions in<br />

Byzantium Era, Hippodrome was also<br />

used for similar purposes including executions<br />

in Ottoman Period. Today, it<br />

is the heart of the Old City which hosts<br />

other ancient monuments.<br />

Today, you have also chance to see<br />

Sacred Relics of Islam in a special section<br />

of the museum. The driver will<br />

pick you up from your hotel and assist<br />

to meet with your tour guide between<br />

12:45- 13:1 5 according to your hotel location.<br />

Started to build in 1460 and finished<br />

in 1478 for Sultan Mehmet - the conqueror<br />

of İstanbul, Topkapi Palace was the<br />

primary residence of Ottoman Sultans.<br />

The palace was transformed into a<br />

museum in 1924 and was declared as a<br />

*World Heritage by Unesco in 1985<br />

Harem Section is not included in the<br />

itinerary because it needs additional<br />

time and fee so please check with<br />

your tour guide if you would like to<br />

spend time over there on your own.<br />

Grand Bazaar - Kapalıcarsı<br />

(Closed on Sundays & replaced with<br />

Spice Bazaar)<br />

In addition to its historical importance,<br />

it’ s a bazaar that will tempt even the<br />

nonshoppers with its rich collection<br />

of precious handmade carpets, jewellery,<br />

leather and souvenirs. You have<br />

chance to visit 2 parts;<br />
