Okan University, one of the most eminent and distinguished<br />
foundation universities in Turkey, has a student body of 15000<br />
and offers more than 150 undergraduate and graduate programmes.<br />
The university comprises eight faculties, applied and<br />
health sciences schools, three graduate schools and two vocational<br />
schools at three campuses.<br />
Okan University attaches particular importance to its international<br />
programmes. The university actively participates in the<br />
European Union’s Erasmus Programme and is also a member of<br />
ISEP, a worldwide student exchange network of more than 300<br />
universities in 50 countries. Okan University also has numerous<br />
bilateral or multilateral dual degree and exchange protocols with<br />
universities in the USA, Europe, Russia, China and several Eurasian<br />
countries. The university provides its students with facilities<br />
that enrich the campus life. On the campus, there is a sports and<br />
entertainment compound which includes a movie theatre, several<br />
restaurants and cafés, hairdressers and bookstores as well.<br />
Social and cultural activities are considered as integral parts of<br />
education at Okan University. Seminars, conferences and symposia<br />
are organised at the university with the participation of<br />

Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSGSU) consists<br />
of three faculties, two Institutes (that cater graduate<br />
level students), the State Conservatory, the Higher<br />
Vocational School and 19 Research and Implementation<br />
Centers.<br />
In addition, the university runs one museum which is<br />
İstanbul Painting and Sculpture Museum and one art<br />
and culture center which is Tophane-i Amire.<br />
Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University is located on the European<br />
side of İstanbul and with its various buildings<br />
scattered around the city covers an area of 43,463m2.<br />
Tophane-i Amire Culture and Arts Center is an exhibition<br />
hall complex which consists of 1450 m2. Tophane-i<br />
Amire (The Imperial Factory of Cannons and<br />
Artillery) is thought to have been built around 1453-<br />
1470. The construction was started by Mehmed the<br />
Conqueror and annexes were added during the reigns<br />
of Bayazıd II and Suleiman the Magnificent..<br />
The university also contains a conference hall The<br />
Sedad Hakkı Eldem Oditoryum which consists of 320<br />
seats.<br />
All the buildings of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University<br />
are located close to the city center making it easily accessible<br />
by public transportation. Access is possible by<br />
municipal buses, boats, trams, underground and by taxi<br />
from the major junctures of land and sea transportation,<br />
namely from Karakoy, Eminönü, Beşiktaş and Taksim.
