SUCCESS STORIES GRAND RAPIDS FIRST ASSEMBLY OF GOD The Challenge: Grand Rapids First was looking for a way to update its nursery and wanted to use the space for more than child care. They knew this was an opportunity to create community, but weren’t sure how to create an aesthetically pleasing indoor play area for its newly renovated campus. How could the church create a space where both children and adults wanted to hang out before and after services? The Solution: PLAYTIME designed and created “Moose Mountain” for a glass-enclosed entryway at the church, adding a “wow” factor for families. “People are going out of their minds with joy,” says Brenda Rijfkogel, senior pastor’s wife and project manager. Location: Wyoming, MI Size: 600-899 SF Budget: 80-95K “We are seeing more parents on time and they even stay longer after church, which helps us create fellowship.” BRENT’S PLACE The Challenge: Brent’s Place serves immunecompromised children in Colorado, offering apartments where families can live for up to two years while their children recover from serious illnesses. Those children can’t even visit public playgrounds, so Brent’s Place wanted to offer a “safe-clean” play area. How could Brent’s Place protect the fragile immune systems of the children they serve and still give them the freedom to play? The Solution: PLAYTIME’s play elements are naturally antibacterial. In fact, the shiny coatings on PLAYTIME’s elements have been proven to actually kill bacteria and reduce fungi that come in contact with them.
