THEATER AUTOMATION
Included in the POLARIS touch package, theater automation
allows users to store and recall either specific
or all parameter settings to the desired channels via a
CUE list.
DYNAMIC AUTOMATION
Optional dynamic automation is also available for
POLARIS touch. It allows users to record all actions
referenced against the internal or an external time
code. The recorded data can be stored, edited and
played back.
Editing and post production operations can be performed
either by overwriting current settings, or by modifying
them offline via the event list.

CUE LIST
POLARIS touch users can not only configure the rotary
encoders and buttons but also work with a CUE LIST and
manage the console’s configuration as well as store events
that can be recalled statically or dynamically, blended or
switched.
POLARIS touch provides a host of possibilities for managing,
synchronizing and editing both audio and other event types.
All technical aspects of a Project can be stored and recalled either
automatically or manually and tweaked as and when needed.
Separate fade-in and fade-out times with selectable curves. For
each cue event with adjustable fade times, users can specify
the aspects to be faded: Faders, pan/multipan, EQ gain, EQ
frequency, Q (width), AUX Sends, VCAs.
NEXUS AUDIO NETWORK
Used as input and output section for POLARIS touch, the NEXUS audio
network and patchbay provides audio format conversion, A/D and D/A
conversion, audio processing, data transfer, switch interfaces, talkback/
intercom functionality, logical functions, etc.

Cutting-edge audio components ensure perfect sonic integrity for recording,
mixing and PA applications. While the A/D and D/A converters already offer a
dynamic range of up to 133dB(A), the microphone converters’ dynamic range goes all the way to 158dB(A).
NEXUS complies with all requirements regarding analog inputs and outputs as described in the IRT specification booklets 3/2 and 3/5.
FIBER-OPTIC NETWORKING
The basic idea is as simple as it is effective: optical lines installed throughout the production premises transfer all audio and control data on the digital
level. The studios, control rooms, machine rooms, stages, etc., are fitted with NEXUS base devices, which are linked to one another via optical cables.
Those units provide all required I/O resources in the appropriate formats and via standardized sockets. Reliability is another key factor of this system:
NEXUS comes with redundant power supplies and allows for redundant fiber-optic links to avoid downtimes during a show.

CONFIGURATION AND MIXING
FLEXIBLE INTEGRATION
A single basic module (54 x 42cm) acts as backbone for the
POLARIS touch’s control interface.
Thanks to its universal concept, POLARIS touch is simply
the best integrated multi-purpose solution for theaters, opera
houses, multipurpose venues, convention centers and more.
The touch sensitive user interface provides lightning-fast and
intuitive access to all of POLARIS touch’s audio processing
and control functions.

12 Fader Module with 2 x Basic Modules
Quick and intuitive input and output channel assignments with the
new NEXUS editor. All parameters of a given channel strip are
displayed at a glance - there are no hidden parameters. Selecting
a parameter (e.g. EQ, Dyn, Routing) will enlarge it on screen for
easier editing.

POLARIS touch can be connected directly to SALZBRENNER
STAGETEC MEDIA CONTROL systems.
Flexible control over: auxiliary/cue sources, intercom stations,
networking with building technology systems and centralized
lighting rig control.
Newly added feature: networking possibility with a VIVACE Acoustic
System whose presets can be recalled from the console in real time.
Equipped with a touch-sensitive screen and 16 rotary encoders,
a basic module can be operated either in a horizontal or—after
rotating it by 180°— the upright position.

TOUCH OPERATION
• The Copy function allows users to copy all or specific parameters
A revolutionary new feature is the possibility to operate channels
with finger movements.
Compared with conventional mixing consoles,
this approach is far more straight-forward and
intuitive, because any information that is irrelevant
for the parameter you are editing is
hidden by the system.
While accessing the equalizer section, for instance, only the currently
relevant EQ parameters are displayed.
BASIC MODULE
The compact basic module comes with the following components:
• 1 touch screen with 16 dual concentric rotary encoders
• The modules can either be freely combined or used separately
• Compact footprint for small control rooms
HARDWARE CONTROL
Users who prefer a classic user interface can add an optional fader
expansion unit and connect it to the basic module. All modules
support hot plugging and can be connected any way you please.
This also means that all required parameters can be accessed
straight away.
FADER MODULE
• 12-fader bank with hardware keys and automation control
• Expansion unit with 16 faders for an existing 12-fader module
• Expansion units added at a later stage are reflected and
integreted by the software — no expensive hardware
modifications required.This system is clearly future proof.
POLARIS touch - Fader Extension
• The absence of DSPs inside the console means that audio pro
cessing can even be performed while no console is at hand.
The control unit is connected to the DSP via a conventional
CAT cable.

POLARIS touch - Basic Module
FREELY SELECTABLE FUNCTIONS
In its standard configuration, the basic module provides access to a
channel strip when placed horizontally, while in the upright slanted
position, additional channels can be accessed. Each module acts
as an independent unit with its own CPU and communicates with
the control computer via IP, allowing the user to combine several
modules to a console system of the required size. The number of
possible modules is limited only by the processing power and an
audio channels-to-controls ratio that still makes sense.
