2 – Consultation Activities Since 11 March 2010 1 2 (c) Install access control gates and signage for areas of highest concern, where reasonable, and authorized and agreed by appropriate ministries; and 3 4 5 (d) Assist in the development of, and participate in, a local multi‐stakeholder group to look at methods to reduce unauthorized access to the right‐of‐way during the construction of the Project. 6 7 8 9 2.8 Commitments to Further Consultation and Accommodation BC Hydro will continue to consult with the identified First Nations throughout the remainder of the definition and implementation phases of the Project. BC Hydro will continue to: 10 11 (a) provide timely information and updates regarding the Project and the regulatory process; 12 13 (b) provide timely responses to any questions and/or information requests regarding the Project; 14 15 16 (c) seek to understand any general concerns of First Nations respecting the Project and, where appropriate, consider such concerns in the Project’s final design and delivery; and 17 18 19 (d) engage in discussions to further identify means to avoid, mitigate or otherwise accommodate, if necessary, any potential impacts by the Project to aboriginal interests. 20 21 22 Specific to the KNC and its member First Nations, BC Hydro remains optimistic that the benefits, impact management and procurement agreements will be completed before Final Submissions are due for this Application. 2 – Consultation Activities Since 11 March 2010 1 2 (b) continue to work towards avoiding or mitigating impacts to the extent reasonably possible; and, 3 4 5 6 7 8 (c) continue information sharing and dialogue with the KNC through studies such as the AIA and the AUIS, as well as the construction EMP in order to assist in the detailed design process and Project implementation. BC Hydro will fully examine the studies provided by the KNC to determine if any impacts have been identified, and will work with the KNC to avoid, mitigate, or otherwise accommodate those impacts as necessary. 9 10 11 12 13 With respect to the SALD, BC Hydro has clearly stated its willingness to further meet with the SALD as communicated by letter (March 19), email (April 21, May 4 and May 5), and phone (April 22) to discuss any Project specific concerns that the SALD may have about the Project. SALD has not raised any specific issues with BC Hydro or BCTC about the Project.
