Anne E. Bruder is Senior Architectural Historian for the <strong>Maryland</strong> Department of Transportation, <strong>State</strong><br />

<strong>Highway</strong> Administration where she has worked since 2001. Previously she worked for the <strong>Maryland</strong><br />

Historical Trust. Ms. Bruder had more than 12 years of experience in the fields of architectural history<br />

and historic preservation. She has conducted numerous historic building surveys in <strong>Maryland</strong> and<br />

written many determinations of eligibility for SHA’s Section 106 compliance projects. She has also<br />

written Memoranda of Agreement to address adverse impacts to historic properties caused by SHA’s<br />

projects. She has presented lectures about <strong>Maryland</strong>’s post-World War II suburban development to the<br />

Society of Architectural Historians and the Transportation Research Board’s Committee on Historic and<br />

Archaeological Preservation in Transportation. Ms. Bruder is the project manager for SHA’s Historic<br />

<strong>Highway</strong> Bridge Program. She received her A.B. from Smith College in 1992 and her M.Arch.H. from the<br />

University of Virginia in 1996.
