Annual Dinner and Presentation<br />
The SNRPC annual presentation took place on Saturday the 29 th January<br />
at the Cairn Hotel Bathgate.<br />
The evening began in our traditional way with the top table and winners<br />
being piped in; President George Wilson then welcomed the large<br />
gathering of members and friends and introduced the main guests of the<br />
evening top English distance fancier Mr Brian Denney and his wife<br />
Thelma and NEHU secretary David Powers and his wife Helen.
After an excellent meal David Powers proposed the toast to the club and<br />
then got the presentations underway by presenting the Pererborough<br />
Young Bird <strong>National</strong> awards 1 st Open and 1 st section (C) Bruce<br />
McKenzie Dundee, Section winners Walker & Wilson St Abbs(B), J<br />
McNeill Broxburn(D),K Donoghue Carnwath (E) and J Gibson Torrance<br />
(F).

The next presentation was the Inland <strong>National</strong> Brian Denney did the<br />
honours this time. 1 st Open and winners of section (B), J & D Brunton of<br />
Dunbar who unfortunately could not attend, the section winners were J<br />
Ellis Wellbank (C) A McNaughton Falkirk (D) W Davidson & Son<br />

David Powers presented the Arras winners 1 st Open and winners of<br />
section (B) Walker & Wilson St Abbs, 1 st Yearling <strong>National</strong> winner Peter<br />

Reims<br />
The Premier race of the season the Reims Gold Medal race was the next<br />
awards to be presented.<br />
On the 14 th of January the club was devastated at the news that the 1 st<br />
Open and Gold Medal winner Tom Currie of Dairsie had died in hospital.<br />
George Wilson gave a very moving tribute to Tom and summed him up<br />
perfectly for the modest unassuming man that he was.<br />
We were delighted that Tom’s long time companion Christine agreed to<br />
come and accept the Gold Medal.<br />

The 2010 Champion Awards were presented as follows, Peter Virtue: 2<br />
Silver and 1 Bronze. John Bell: 1 Bronze. Norman Renton: 1 Bronze.<br />
Willie & Margaret Smith : 1 Bronze. Wilf Flockhart: 1 Bronze and Gary<br />
Hall : 1 Bronze<br />
Saintes Silver Medal<br />

Outstanding Achievement Award<br />
A special presentation was made to W & M Smith of Macmerry winners<br />
of the silver medal for 1 st Open Saintes for the outstanding achievement<br />
of their pigeon 77 Sunset Strip this was the 3 rd time he had done the<br />
Saintes race in succession a trip of over 700 miles to his Macmerry loft.<br />
Prior to Saintes he had three very good <strong>National</strong> positions to his name.

Winner of the Overall Average the Extreme Distance Average and<br />
Section B Average was John Bell of Tranent, what a tremendous season<br />
John had, he was a thoroughly deserving winner of these prestigious<br />
awards. This was the kind of season we all dream about and it was the<br />
achievement of a top class pigeon fancier one of the best in the country at<br />
this present time.<br />
Section average winners were Section C J McKenzie Anstruther, Section<br />
F Ian Ross Kirkintilloch.

The John Fairbairn Memorial Plaque is inscribed yearly with the 1st<br />
Open winners names and it is a custom of the club that the Reims winner<br />
has the honour of being custodian of the plaque for a year, Christine was<br />
then asked to return to the floor and receive the plaque.<br />
The final presentation was the John Trail Trophy which was won by<br />
John McKenzie of Anstruther.<br />
The main guest of the evening Brian Denney took the floor and gave an<br />
excellent speech in which he complimented the club and it’s members on<br />
their fine performances from the distance over the short period of time the<br />
club has been in existence, he went on to say that he followed our<br />
progress with interest by reading our reports in the British Homing World<br />
this was a wonderful accolade indeed from one of the countries best ever<br />
exponents of long distance pigeon racing.

The retiring President of the RPRA Les Blacklock closed the proceedings<br />
with a fine speech in which Les went on to say that he and his wife<br />
Merel had never missed our annual presentation since the inaugural<br />
event in 2005. Both Les and Merel are held in very high esteem by<br />
the members and officials of the SNRPC and we sincerely hope<br />
they will be attending our function for many years to come; they<br />
will always be made very welcome as our friends.<br />
