We have provided answers to some of the most frequently asked questions from <strong>Birmingham</strong><br />

• What are my <strong>Friends</strong>’ discounts and how do they work?<br />

The <strong>Friends</strong> scheme offers Opening night offers for many shows; which can often be two tickets for the<br />

price of one. There is a standard discount for other shows. The standard discount is £5 for price band A,<br />

£4 for price band B and £3 for price band C. Single <strong>Friends</strong> can have 1 standard discount, Joint <strong>Friends</strong><br />

can have 2 standard discounts and Family <strong>Friends</strong> can have up to 4 discounts.<br />

Standard discounts are not valid for Welsh National Opera, <strong>Birmingham</strong> Royal Ballet and some external<br />

performances.<br />

• Why are Standard Discounts not available for every performance at <strong>Birmingham</strong> <strong>Hippodrome</strong>?<br />

Standard discounts are not valid for Welsh National Opera, <strong>Birmingham</strong> Royal Ballet and some external<br />

performances. In the case of fast selling shows offers can be withdrawn at the discretion of a shows<br />

producer and box office managers. . <strong>Birmingham</strong> <strong>Hippodrome</strong> always tries to ensure all discounts are<br />

available to our <strong>Friends</strong>, but the final decision is held by the Producer.<br />

<strong>Birmingham</strong> <strong>Hippodrome</strong> <strong>Friends</strong> do not receive Welsh National Opera and <strong>Birmingham</strong> Royal Ballet<br />

discounts. This is because these discounts are offered by their own membership schemes. Information<br />

about these schemes can be found on their websites.<br />

• How do Transaction Charges work for <strong>Friends</strong> of <strong>Birmingham</strong> <strong>Hippodrome</strong>?<br />

On performances where standard discounts apply <strong>Friends</strong> of <strong>Birmingham</strong> <strong>Hippodrome</strong> can receive a<br />

reduced booking fee of 0%. . A single Friend will receive 0% on 1 ticket, a joint Friend will receive 0% on<br />

2 tickets and a family Friend will receive 0% on up to 4 tickets per transaction. If any further tickets are<br />

purchased, a standard 5% will be added to your booking. When a standard discount is not available the<br />

booking fee will return to 5%. Any person wishing to override this booking fee can pick up their tickets at<br />

box office in person and pay by cash.<br />

A 5% transaction charge for <strong>Friends</strong> will be added at all times to BRB, WNO and some external<br />

productions at the discretion of a show’s producer/the box office managers.<br />

• When I am purchasing tickets online I am not seeing my <strong>Friends</strong> Discounts?<br />

When purchasing tickets online it is advisable that a BH Friend logs in on the home screen before<br />

purchasing any tickets. Once you have logged in, all of the <strong>Friends</strong>’ discounts will show in the drop down<br />

box.

• I have not received my membership pack/card/renewal letters<br />

Once you have become a <strong>Birmingham</strong> <strong>Hippodrome</strong> Friend you should receive your pack within 30<br />

days(maximum). If you are missing or require paperwork from the <strong>Friends</strong> please do not hesitate to<br />

contact us on 0844 338 5026 or at <strong>Friends</strong>@<strong>Birmingham</strong>hippodrome.com and we will send out<br />

replacement copies to you straight away.<br />

If you require replacement cards please call/email us on the details above and we will replace this<br />

straight away.<br />

• How do <strong>Friends</strong> of the theatre receive discount at The Circle & Stageside restaurant.<br />

<strong>Friends</strong> receive a 15% discount at <strong>Birmingham</strong> <strong>Hippodrome</strong> restaurants. When booking please advise<br />

the desk that you are a Friend of the theatre. Please ensure that you have your card with you when you<br />

visit; this validates your discount. If you find that you do not have an up to date card or you have<br />

misplaced your card please contact us and we will make provision for this.<br />

• Payment for Membership<br />

If you pay by Credit/debit card you can set up a once off payment, or a recurring card payment which<br />

acts like a direct debit and will be taken annually. Both recurring card payments and direct debits are<br />

taken on or around the 15 th of the month. If your payment bounces for any reason we will contact you<br />

to try and rectify this. If your bank details change please contact us directly.
