Competition Report
The 2012/13 season again saw Anglesea
rise to the top of the pack winning the
State titles points’ race once again.
This achievement rests on the back of many
individuals as well as the coaches and support
staff’s dedication and hard work. The Anglesea
Surf Lifesaving Club’s competition team is a
collection of club members young and old who
contribute widely to the running of this great
club. Many competitive members are actively
involved in life saving operations, administration,
training and social events as well as training
and competing for the club. This commitment
has been rewarded with many great results at
both the Victorian State Titles and the Aussies
this year. I would like especially to take this
opportunity to congratulate the Open Women’s
R&R team for their wonderful effort in winning
the gold medal at the Aussie Titles. Other
strong results worth mentioning are Bronze
medals to the U/17 male beach relay team and
the U/15 and U/17 R&R teams. Also the Master’s
competitors once again had some strong results
with gold medals to Sally Cummings in the 30-
40 year female beach sprint and the 130 year
+ male ski relay team these along with a silver
in the 140 year + men’s beach relay and three
bronze medals.

This past season saw the Anglesea Surf Club
host the Victorian State titles for the second
year running and as was the case the previous
year the carnival ran extremely smoothly thanks
largely to the efforts, organisation and expertise
of Tom Cullen who along with his band of helpers
worked diligently to pull off this successful event.
In my time as director I have thankfully had
strong support from many club members with
far more expertise than myself and I gratefully
appreciate their support. The competition
partnership with Mentone Lifesaving Club again
this year proved to be a positive for both clubs
and the ongoing benefits should continue to be
realised into the future.
