Resources on the Internet
Spring
2013
Government Funding:
Grants.gov
http://www.grants.gov
Grants.gov is your source to find and apply for federal grants. The U.S. Department of
Health and Human Ser-vices is the managing partner for Grants.gov, an initiative that is
having an unparalleled impact on the grant community. Grants.gov was established as a
governmental resource named the E-Grants Initiative, part of the President’s 2002 Fiscal
Year Management Agenda to improve government services to the public.
Catalog of Federal and Domestic Assistance
http://www.cfda.gov
The CFDA provides a full listing of all Federal programs available to State and local governments
(including the District of Columbia); federally-recognized Indian tribal governments;
Territories (and possessions) of the U.S.; domestic public, quasi-public, and private
profit and nonprofit organizations and instructions; special-ized groups; and individuals.
Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tool (RePORT)
http://projectreporter.nih.gov/reporter.cfm
RePORT replaces the Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects (CRISP) database.
This is a searchable database from the National Institute of Health of federally funded biomedical
research projects conducted at universities, hospitals, and other research institutions. This new
tool retains all of the features of CRISP while providing additional query fields, hit lists that can be
sorted and downloaded to Excel, NIH funding for each project, and the publications and patents
that have acknowledged support from each pro-ject. RePORTER provides links to PubMed Central,
PubMed, and U.S. Patent Full-Text and Image Database.
Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR)
http://www.ed.gov/policy/fund/reg/edgarReg/edgar.html
Database from the Department of Education that browses Title 34 Code of Federal Regulations
Parts 74-86 and 97-99, 2008 edition (grants and contracts).
Commerce Business Daily
http://www.fedbizopps.gov
The daily list of U.S. government procurement invitations, contract awards, subcontracting leads,
sales of surplus property and foreign business opportunities. This resource was a paper publication
from Commerce for years, that went online in the 1990s. On January 1, 2002, the FedBizOpps
(FBO) database replaced the Com-merce Business Daily (CBD). FBO is the single government pointof-entry
(GPE) for Federal government pro-curement opportunities over $25,000. Government buyers
are able to publicize their business opportunities by posting information
directly to FBO via the Internet. Through one portal - FBO -
commercial vendors seeking Federal markets for their products and
services can search, monitor and re-trieve opportunities solicited by
the entire Federal contracting community.
Federal Student Aid, an office of the U.S. Department of Education, plays a central and essential role in
America’s postsecondary education community. Their core mission is to ensure that all eligible individuals
benefit from federal financial assistance - grants, loans, and work-study programs - for education beyond high
school. The programs they administer comprise the nation’s largest source of student aid. Every year we provide
more than $100 billion in new aid to nearly 14 million postsecondary students and their families.
