If I kept it to myself
long time. Currently, I am working to strengthen
the capacity of people living with HIV and AIDS
to improve their lives and raise their voices in
advocacy for their rights. In doing this, I am vocal
in public, calling on government, the community
and different groups to join in response to the
pandemic, and end stigma and discrimination
against people living with HIV and AIDS.
Currently I am also a member of the Community
Review Panel (CRP) for the Collaborative Fund
and the Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) on
Access to Treatment, which is responsible for
developing priorities and guidelines for funding
across the regions.
I am involved in many community initiatives and
advocacy activities at home. And since 2001, I
also work as a consultant on trafficking, women
and child development, gender and resources,
condom use, the media and many other issues.
I have told all my family including cousins, nieces,
nephews, aunts and uncles about my HIV status
and what I expect from them. They are supportive
in my work and encourage me to remain healthy
and continue with my commitment.
I am working very hard to see the involvement
of people living with HIV and AIDS. For the
upcoming International AIDS Conference
2006 in Toronto, Canada, I have submitted a
proposal to the organising committee to invite
potential donors for a closed door meeting with
representatives of PLWHA around the world. The
main purpose is to explore their commitment to
GIPA.
