49. Analyzing expenditure by type, it was noted that <strong>the</strong> major categories<br />

were Pers<strong>on</strong>al Emoluments, Pensi<strong>on</strong> and Gratuities, Goods and Services,<br />

Transfers and Subsidies, and O<strong>the</strong>r Expenditure. Pers<strong>on</strong>al Emoluments<br />

(that is salaries and wages <strong>of</strong> staff) amounted to $25,896,979, representing<br />

30% <strong>of</strong> total recurrent expenditure for <strong>the</strong> year.<br />

50. $12,135,223 was spent for Pensi<strong>on</strong>s and Gratuities. This represents<br />

13% <strong>of</strong> expenditure for <strong>the</strong> year.<br />

51. Expenditure for Goods and Services amounted to $12,890,229<br />

representing 14% <strong>of</strong> total expenditure for <strong>the</strong> fiscal year.<br />

52. Total expenditure incurred for Transfers and Subsidies amounted to<br />

$21,675,312 representing 24% <strong>of</strong> recurrent expenditure for <strong>2004</strong>.<br />

53. Expenditure incurred under <strong>the</strong> O<strong>the</strong>r Expenditure sub-grouping<br />

amounted to $13,747,665 representing 15% <strong>of</strong> total recurrent expenditure<br />

for <strong>the</strong> fiscal year.<br />

54. Social Services and Debt Servicing complete <strong>the</strong> expenditure<br />

categories. Expenditure for Social Services amounted to $3,044,797 being<br />

3% <strong>of</strong> total expenditure. An analysis <strong>of</strong> expenditure <strong>on</strong> Debt Servicing is<br />

reported elsewhere in this report.<br />
