Clem Dinsmore assists individuals,
businesses and non-profit
organizations with their financial
concerns to help them meet their
financial goals. His clients include a
broad range of people with a wide
spectrum of concerns and needs,
including short-term investing, educating their children
and preparing for retirement.
His practice includes counseling for-profit and not-forprofit
employers concerned with the costs of their
employee-benefit programs. He helps these clients
establish retirement plans that provide investment options
that are comprehensive, high quality and low cost. Clem
is familiar with exchange-traded funds (ETFs) as well as
actively managed funds, and Socially Responsible
Investments (SRIs).
Before Clem joined Oppenheimer in June 2008, he
worked as a Financial Advisor, first with the Ameritas-
Acacia Life Insurance Company, followed by A.G.
Edwards & Sons, now part of Wells-Fargo Advisors.
Previously, Clem practiced law for twenty-five years. He
believes that his legal experience with the Senate Banking
Committee and the House Conservation and Natural
Resources Subcommittee of the House Government
Operations Committee, as well as Federal credit and
financial regulatory agencies, enhanced his
understanding of practical credit and accounting issues
and investment strategy. Clem has also participated in the
development of public policies affecting financial
institutions, community development, affordable housing
and the environment. When he practiced law, he also
created and taught graduate-level environmental policy
courses and advised a partnership of national
environmental organizations on the development of a
new mortgage loan product.
Clem is a graduate of Princeton University and the
University of Michigan Law School. He is married and has
two adult children. He retains his interest in local
community advocacy, in which he participates through
the Washington Interfaith Network.
