Geografska in krajinska pestrost
Slovenije odseva tudi v veliki
raznolikosti vodnih ekosistemov, s
tem pa tudi v biotski pestrosti alg.
Kremenaste alge najdemo v izvirih,
hudournikih, visokogorskih in
ledeniških jezerih, na barjih in v
presihajočih jezerih, mrtvicah, mlakah,
močvirjih in celo v termalnih
vrelcih.
The geographic and landscape diversity
of Slovenia reflects in the vast
variety of aquatic ecosystems and
thus in biodiversity of algae. Diatoms
are found in freshwater springs,
torrents, in mountain and glacier
lakes, on moors, in periodic lakes,
oxbow lakes, pools, marshes and
even in thermal springs.
