CLASS DESCRIPTIONS<br />

SARPY COMMUNITY <strong>YMCA</strong><br />

Cardio<br />

BODYCOMBAT is a fiercly energetic program inspired by<br />

martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as<br />

Karate, Boxing, Taekwondo, Tai Chi and Muay Thai.<br />

Group Cycle is an aerobic/anaerobic workout on a stationary<br />

bike designed for all fitness levels.<br />

Low-Impact Zumba ® is an upbeat class that combines the<br />

moves and music of dance with the cardiovascular power of<br />

aerobics.<br />

Mind/Body<br />

Pilates works on the body’s core, the center of our<br />

“powerhouse” (hips to shoulders). A strong core relates to a<br />

healthy low back, better posture and more functional<br />

movement patterns.<br />

Pilates/Yoga is a combination of Matwork Pilates and Hatha<br />

Yoga. Gain a better sense of physical awareness, enhance<br />

muscle condition and core stability as you challenger your<br />

body as well as your mind.<br />

Step II utilizes a platform bench for cardiovascular conditioning.<br />

Intermediate choreography will be used in this class and options<br />

will be shown to increase/decrease intensity levels.<br />

Zumba ® Fitness uses exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin<br />

and international beats.<br />

Strength<br />

BODYPUMP is the original LES MILLS barbell class that will<br />

sculpt, tone and strengthen your entire body.<br />

Core Strength is a class that targets and tones core muscles to<br />

help build stronger abdominals and a healthier lower back.<br />

Combo<br />

Low-Impact is a low-impact, fat-burning workout that is easy<br />

on your joints.<br />

F.I.E.R.C.E. is a class that takes cardio training and adds functional,<br />

resistance training and core exercises to provide an amazing, full-body<br />

workout.<br />

Step/Circuit is a great workout combining interval step/cardio<br />

training and weight lifting.<br />

SilverSneakers ® Muscular Strength & Range of Movement<br />

(MSROM) includes a variety of exercises designed to increase<br />

muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily<br />

living.<br />

Ultimate Strength & Cardio (USC) is an interval workout for<br />

muscular strength, endurance and cardiovascular systems that<br />

focus on functional training utilizing weights, body weights and<br />

variable resistance.<br />

Zumba ® Toning combines targeted body-sculpting exercises and<br />

high-energy cardio work.<br />

Power Yoga is designed for students with some yoga<br />

experience, this is a fast-past, challenging practice that builds<br />

stamina and strength through a series of flowing poses.<br />

Students should be comfortable coming quickly into standing<br />

poses with good alignment.<br />

Yoga is inspiring, energizing and calming. Breathing and<br />

relaxation exercise techniques form a complete mind and body<br />

workout.<br />

Family Classes<br />

Family Zumba ® The whole family is invited to this fun highenergy<br />

class that is set to Latin and international beats.<br />

Family Taekwondo…Ages 6+ is a Korean self-defense form<br />

that teaches courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control and<br />

strong spirit.<br />

Aqua<br />

Aquacise Moderately high aerobics workout without<br />

traumatic impact to the joints. Develop in-crease muscular<br />

tone, and flexibility. No swimming experience required.<br />

Aqua Zumba® is a challenging, water-based workout that’s<br />

cardio-conditioning, body-toning, and exhilarating.<br />

Deep Water Workout is a high intensity water workout with<br />

no impact on your joints. Must be comfortable in<br />

the deep water. Noodles or belts are used<br />

during class.<br />

Senior Splash is a fun aerobics class just for seniors. Combines<br />

moderate aerobics workout with flexi-bility, and<br />

muscular resistance.<br />

Shallow/Deep Water Combo is a class that will start in the<br />

shallow end and then move to the deep for a great all over<br />

body workout.<br />

Please be prepared for class by wearing appropriate clothing & shoes, showing up a few<br />

minutes early, & bringing a water bottle & sweat towel!
