5. Fax the one-to-one copy of the ten-print card, along with the copy
at 144%, and the cover sheet to CIB at 608-267-8935.
Immediate FBI Fingerprint Query
Requests for a query of name and fingerprints from the FBI database are handled
through the Special Processing Center in Clarksburg, WV. They are available 24
hours a day, 7 days a week. You do not have to call ahead, but if you want to or
have questions, the number is 304-625-5584. The turnaround for results of the
search is 2 to 4 hours. You need to make sure to provide a name and fax number, as
they will fax the results of the search back to you.
Steps for FBI Query
1. Photocopy the ten-print card one-to-one.
2. Photocopy the ten-print card again at 129%, on Super-Fine
Resolution. Make sure you write the subject’s name and DOB
somewhere on the enlarged copy. Again, they do not need the
other data on the enlarged version, just the prints. You will have to
follow the same procedure as in step 3 above in the “Steps for
Query of CIB”. (See attached example)
3. Create a cover sheet with the subject’s name, DOB and the
statement that you are looking for any existing record on the
subject or the fingerprints. If you have multiple subjects, put a
separate cover sheet between each of the subject’s photocopies,
with that subject’s name and DOB, (per the FBI’s request). Make
sure that you include a contact name and fax number on the cover
sheet, as they will fax the results of the search back to you. Also,
be sure to include a phone number in case they have a problem and
need to contact you.
4. Fax the one-to-one copy of the ten-print card, along with the copy
at 129%, and the cover sheet to the FBI Special Processing Center
at 304-625-5587.
