Where to Use Fast ID<br />

Some practical applications for these fast identification devices might include:<br />

• providing real-time identification <strong>of</strong> an arrested person with an<br />

unknown or questioned identity;<br />

• identifying a suspect prior to keying errant arrest information into your<br />

records management system;<br />

• authenticating a prisoners identity prior to release;<br />

• confirming identity for high pr<strong>of</strong>ile prisoners returning from court.<br />

Training<br />

These devices require minimal training. The vendor will provide instruction<br />

documentation at the time <strong>of</strong> installation. Copies <strong>of</strong> local law enforcement policy<br />

and procedure are available if your agency would like to review them prior to<br />

developing one <strong>of</strong> your own.<br />

Databases Searched<br />

These devices do not query the FBI’s IAFIS or other databases. They query only the<br />

<strong>Wisconsin</strong> AFIS index finger database.<br />

Search Limitations<br />

Currently, there is no limit.<br />

Requirements<br />

Access to BadgerNet (10Mbits/s Ethernet network) – the same network<br />

connection as your live scan, card scan, or TIME system server/terminal.<br />

This may require your agency install a switch, and provide necessary<br />

category 5 cabling;<br />

An IP address for the device;<br />

A standard outlet/power source that supports 115v;<br />

A mounting device should your agency desire one.<br />

Communications Protocol<br />

Communications used are HTTP. Sites with network security should use port 80.<br />

Placement<br />

Some locations you may wish to place the fast ID device might include:<br />

• Pre-booking area or intoxilyzer room;<br />

• Pre-release area;<br />
