Wisconsin Offense Information Offense Severity Codes Select the appropriate severity code for the offense if more than one exists for a listed violation, i.e. felony or misdemeanor. Code Severity F M N Felony Misdemeanor Non-criminal Select the appropriate classification level for the felony, misdemeanor or noncriminal offense being charged. On the actual fingperint card, only felony, misdemeanor or non-criminal needs to be indicated. The classification level is to assist in selecting the proper statute that is being alledged. Code Classification A B C D E F G H I U Class A felony, misdemeanor or non-criminal offense Class B felony, misdemeanor or non-criminal offense Class C felony, misdemeanor or non-criminal offense Class D felony or non-criminal offense Class E felony or non-criminal offense Class F felony Class G felony Class H felony Class I felony Unclassified felony, misdemeanor or non-criminal offense Examples: • FB is a class B felony • FU is an unclassified felony • MA is a class A misdemeanor • ND is a class D forfeiture (Non-criminal) Some of the offenses listed indicate a severity of "modifier". These statutes modify the underlying offense charge. A modifier cannot be the only offense alleged, it must be used in conjunction with another valid, chargeable offense. Statute Tables The following Wisconsin statute tables contain the following columns: • Statute - the assigned statute number for the given offense. • Severity - the severity of the stated offense; felony, misdemeanor or non-criminal, along with the severity classification. • Literal - the literal description for the offense as found in the Consolidated Court Automation Program tables. • NCIC - the NCIC code assigned for the offense. In cases where more than one possible NCIC code exists, the code best describing the offense should be used. Those NCIC codes ending in 99 should only be used if non of the other available codes apply. The statute tables are sorted by two different means, numerically by statute number and alphabetically by literal description.
