Simrit—Your Technology Specialist
Simrit is the industrial sealing products division of the
Freudenberg and NOK Group companies, the world’s
largest supplier of elastomeric seals and custom-molded
products. No other truly global company provides the
same superior customer benefits of experience, product
availability, and wealth of expertise to the aerospace
field (and beyond), as evidenced by over $12 billion in
annual worldwide sales. Yet despite the great size of our
parent company, one of Simrit’s important advantages in
serving aerospace customers, OEMs, and distributors alike
is our unique ability to customize our sealing solutions to
virtually any size and application. Our unmatched global
resources enable us to provide dependable products,
and our service-minded structure is designed to focus on
our customers’ individual needs.
Simrit Aerospace Profile Seals
Simrit’s profile seals are found throughout the aircraft,
from door and window seals to aerodynamics seals on
the airframe to fireproof seals found in the engine and
nacelle. These products include both homogeneous and
fabric-reinforced seals made primarily from silicone and
fluorosilicone materials to handle the harsh environments
of aerospace applications. In addition to offering industry
standards such as AMS- and MIL-approved materials,
Simrit continues to develop unique materials for individual
customer requirements and specific applications. Various
fabrics such as polyester, ceramic, aramid, PTFE, and
fiberglass are utilized in a wide range of configurations to
provide friction reduction, abrasion resistance, and/or flame
resistance. Additionally, substrates such as conductive SS
mesh for EMI or aluminum/SS inserts for mounting can
be incorporated into the seals.
This design guide is meant as a reference to help engineers
understand Simrit capabilities and how these designs can
be combined and tailored to suit your specific application.
All of these profiles can then be formed, molded, and
spliced into finished products such as door or hatch seals.
Simrit has a wide range of expertise in this market and is
ready to assist you in designing a sealing solution that will
best meet all of your technical needs with competitive
prices and lead times.
