The following information is provided to assist you in making any necessary<br />

arrangements.<br />

• The deceased has been taken to either Franklin County Coroner’s Office in<br />

Columbus, <strong>Ohio</strong> or to the Licking County Coroner’s Office in <strong>New</strong>ark, <strong>Ohio</strong> for<br />

examination, as required by law.<br />

• Call the funeral home of your choice to inform them of the situation and your<br />

desire to use their services.<br />

• Contact the appropriate coroner’s office to inform them of the funeral home<br />

you have chosen.<br />

‣ The Franklin County Coroner’s Office is open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm,<br />

Monday through Friday, however, you may call them at 614-525-5290,<br />

24 hours a day, to inform them of the funeral home you have chosen.<br />

‣ The Licking County Coroner’s office is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm,<br />

Monday through Friday. You may contact them at 740-349-3633 during<br />

office hours, or 740-348-1638, 24 hours a days.<br />

• The Coroner will call your designated funeral home to transport the deceased<br />

once the examination has been completed, usually within 12 to 24 hours.<br />

• Your funeral home will make an appointment with you to make final<br />

arrangements.<br />

• The investigating officer, ______________________, is preparing the report. If<br />

you wish, you may contact him/her with any questions at 614-855-1234.<br />

• You may pick up any personal items by calling the <strong>New</strong> <strong>Albany</strong> Police<br />

Department at 614-855-1234 to schedule an appointment.<br />

• If we can be of further assistance, please call the <strong>New</strong> <strong>Albany</strong> Police Department<br />

at 614-855-1234.<br />

• If you would like to contact a Victim Assistance Program, please call the Office<br />

of the Attorney General at 614-466-5610 or 1-800-582-2877.<br />
