The following information is provided to assist you in making any necessary
arrangements.
• The deceased has been taken to either Franklin County Coroner’s Office in
Columbus, Ohio or to the Licking County Coroner’s Office in Newark, Ohio for
examination, as required by law.
• Call the funeral home of your choice to inform them of the situation and your
desire to use their services.
• Contact the appropriate coroner’s office to inform them of the funeral home
you have chosen.
‣ The Franklin County Coroner’s Office is open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm,
Monday through Friday, however, you may call them at 614-525-5290,
24 hours a day, to inform them of the funeral home you have chosen.
‣ The Licking County Coroner’s office is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm,
Monday through Friday. You may contact them at 740-349-3633 during
office hours, or 740-348-1638, 24 hours a days.
• The Coroner will call your designated funeral home to transport the deceased
once the examination has been completed, usually within 12 to 24 hours.
• Your funeral home will make an appointment with you to make final
arrangements.
• The investigating officer, ______________________, is preparing the report. If
you wish, you may contact him/her with any questions at 614-855-1234.
• You may pick up any personal items by calling the New Albany Police
Department at 614-855-1234 to schedule an appointment.
