Coordinator will identify personnel and resources needed for the detail and present it to<br />

the Honor Guard Supervisor for approval. Upon approval, the Honor Guard Coordinator<br />

will notify those members assigned to the event. If sufficient personnel are not available<br />

for the event, the Honor Guard Coordinator will notify the Honor Guard Supervisor<br />

immediately.<br />

Two Honor Guard Officers will attend the funeral services in full dress uniform and<br />

participate in the funeral procession with a marked police vehicle for all Law Enforcement<br />

Officers killed in the line of duty in the state of <strong>Ohio</strong>. Approval of additional Honor Guard<br />

members to attend in state services and participation of the Honor Guard for funeral<br />

services outside the state of <strong>Ohio</strong> will be at the discretion of the Chief of Police.<br />

D. Training<br />

Members of the Honor Guard will receive two hours of compensable training each month.<br />

It will be the responsibility of the Honor Guard Coordinator to plan and set up all training<br />

activities for the Honor Guard and have them approved by the Honor Guard Supervisor.<br />

Any necessary training beyond the normal two hours per month must be approved by the<br />

Honor Guard Supervisor or Chief of Police.<br />

E. Equipment<br />

Equipment used by the Honor Guard will consist of flags, flag poles, black patent leather<br />

flag pole holders, and rifles with black leather slings. The use of the equipment shall be in<br />

accordance with the Honor Guard Manual guidelines. Equipment shall be stored in a<br />

secured locker in the Police Department and will be maintained by the Honor Guard<br />

Coordinator.<br />
