He is currently under the mentorship of Kholofelo Pholafudi and
working closely with Selaelo Maredi a writer and a director of
theater plays. Sello is also the managing director of a spoken
word movement namely RHYTHM N' POETRY, an art initiative
that is dedicated to develop, renew and celebrate the
essence of poetry in Limpopo. Two of his poems are
published in Volume 2 of an anthology book called Via
Grapevine. His work will soon appear in the upcoming
anthology called “One In A Million” (The title inspired by
one of my poems) under the English Department in the
University of Limpopo.
SELLO ALPHEUS CHOKOE better
know with the stage name POETIC-LION,
is a performance poet and an actor based
in Seshego near Polokwane, Limpopo. He
grew up in Seshego where he attended his
primary level, then moved to Lissa (Ga-
Kgare) in Moletjie to complete his matric.
He developed a deep passion for art after
acting in a school play that was against
Xenophobia at the time in 2008. He always
listened to and read poetry anthologies
ever since and only realized his ability of
putting pen to paper (writing his own
works) in the year 2011 while furthering his
studies doing Computer Science at the
University of Limpopo. And to date, he is believed to have shown so much growth as a
performance poet. “Life is but a poem to me” he says.
He has graced many stages with his works of poetry and
drama, platforms such as the International Poetry
Festival which was held in the University of Limpopo in
2013, Poetry With Presence of JC Reigns, Limpopo Arts
& Culture Association (LACA), Polokwane Literary
Festival, Artistic Youth Expressions in Mokopane and his
work was also featured in media platforms such as Thobela
FM, Radio Turf as well as appearing in publications such as
'Review Newspaper' and 'Keyaka Student Magazine'.
Life is but a poem.
