STARWOOD HOTELS & RESORTS HAWAII APPOINTS<br />

THREE GENERAL MANAGERS<br />

HONOLULU – Starwood Hotels & Resorts Hawaii has made three general manager<br />

appointments. Chip Bahouth will be the general manager of the <strong>Sheraton</strong> Kauai Resort,<br />

Tetsuji Yamazaki will be the general manager of the <strong>Sheraton</strong> <strong>Maui</strong> Resort & Spa, and R.<br />

George Reed will be the general manager of the <strong>Sheraton</strong> Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa.<br />

“Starwood is honored to have a solid management team with Bahouth, Yamazaki and<br />

Reed,” said Keith Vieira, Starwood’s senior vice president of operations – Hawaii &<br />

French Polynesia. “All three bring a wealth of hotel service industry experience and<br />

leadership to their new positions. We look forward to their continued success with<br />

Starwood Hotels & Resorts.”<br />

About Chip Bahouth, General Manager, <strong>Sheraton</strong> Kauai Resort:<br />

Bahouth joined Starwood in 1981 and has held a variety of leadership positions with the<br />

company in the areas of Operations, Sales and Marketing, and Food and Beverage. He<br />

has worked for many of Starwood’s Hawaii resorts, including the <strong>Sheraton</strong> <strong>Maui</strong> Resort<br />

& Spa, the former Hotel Hana <strong>Maui</strong>, and the <strong>Sheraton</strong> Princess Kaiulani in Honolulu, in<br />

addition to the former <strong>Sheraton</strong> Town House in Los Angeles. In 1999 and 2007, under his<br />

leadership, the <strong>Sheraton</strong> <strong>Maui</strong> Resort & Spa received Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ highest<br />

honor, “Hotel of the Year” for the <strong>Sheraton</strong> brand. Bahouth earned a bachelor’s degree in<br />

hotel and restaurant management from the University of Denver.<br />

About Tetsuji Yamazaki, General Manager, <strong>Sheraton</strong> <strong>Maui</strong> Resort & Spa:<br />

Yamazaki joined Starwood in 1997 and has since held an array of leadership roles,<br />

including assistant hotel manager for the Royal Hawaiian and front office manager,<br />

director of property operations and hotel manager for the <strong>Sheraton</strong> <strong>Maui</strong> Resort & Spa. In<br />

his most recent role, Yamazaki served as general manager of <strong>Sheraton</strong> Keauhou Bay<br />

Resort & Spa. Yamazaki earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations and<br />

political science from Sophia University in Tokyo and a master’s degree in hotel<br />

management from the School of Travel Industry Management at the University of<br />

Hawaii.<br />

About R. George Reed, General Manager, <strong>Sheraton</strong> Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa<br />

Reed joined Starwood in 1999. In the decade that followed, he rose through the ranks at<br />

the <strong>Sheraton</strong> <strong>Maui</strong> Resort & Spa as guest services manager, restaurant manager, assistant<br />

front office manager, front office manager, director of six sigma, director of property<br />

operations and hotel manager. Reed has earned three degrees – bachelor of science in<br />

mechanical engineering, bachelor of arts in mechanical engineering, and bachelor of arts<br />

in German language and literature with distinction – all from Oregon State University.<br />
