I think the first time I photographed my
grandfather was when I was thirteen years
old. It was natural to me since we lived in
the same house and he was the closest
person around. I became more interested
in photography, and my grandfather modelled
for me so I could practice. While I
was enrolled in an American university, and
was far from home, I realized how important
it was for me to photograph my grandfather.
The man I had photographed for
„practice“ was my most important subject.
I posed him for some of these pictures; in
others, he posed himself. Some are just
snapshots. All these pictures, however,
document the time my grandfather and I
spend together. My grandfather teaches
me about life just by standing before my
camera.
Most of the photos I'm sending you are
shot in 2000-2002. I've been taking pictures
of my grand father about 16 years and
he is now 93 years old. He looks older and
weaker than before as in the book, but
that's how it is. Life goes on and I will keep
shootin'
