MTSV-Sofa, 2002
Bags, backpacks, air bag, carpet, 220 x 140 x 100 cm
»An organisation as an abstract sculpture reflecting social cohesion is a model. The
MTSV-Sofa as an organisational model is familiar to us from train stations and airports,
where temporary sitting sculptures are created out of bags, when groups travel and
meat. The flexible sofa is also a symbol of the constantly changing spatial situations
in today’s mobile lifestyle and exemplify the deconstruction, reconstruction, sampling
and reconfiguration in the sense of new applications of existing ideas. Since the installation
can also be used as a chair and corner sofa there is an overlap even in the
reception of the model in art and design. Moreover, a timeless temporary material
surface emerges – one that speaks my sculptural language.«
