(2) Mix the cleaning solution, which must have 90 parts of warm clean water and 10 parts of mild liquid soap. NOTE: You can use Windex to clean the surface as an alternative. (3) Lightly soak a shop wipe in soap solution and clean the surface in a circular soft motion. NOTE: Turn the cloth frequently to prevent the dirt from redepositing. O. Formica Surfaces - Cleaning (1) Lightly rub the surface with a wiper cloth soaked in neutral detergent to fully clean it. (2) Use a wiper cloth soaked in clean water to fully remove the neutral detergent. (3) Rub the surface dry with a wiper cloth. (4) If necessary, clean the surface with a wiper cloth moist with water and neutral detergent. (5) Rub the surface with a wiper cloth soaked in neutral detergent to make sure that it is fully clean. (6) Fully remove all neutral detergent with a cloth soaked in clean water. (7) Rub the surface dry with a wiper cloth. P. Decorative Platings - Cleaning (1) This procedure is applicable to decorative platings of a distinct variety of materials. These include gold, nickel, copper, brass, chrome, smoke nickel, rose gold, silver and platinum. CAUTION: IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT PLATED SURFACE CON- TACTED BY MOISTURE (ESPECIALLY WATER, TOMATO AND ORANGE JUICE, CARBONATED SOFT DRINKS, AND ALCOHOL) BE WIPED IMMEDIATELY AFTER EACH FLIGHT. CAUTION: DO NOT PERMIT WATER TO DRY ON THE PARTS. THE MINERAL CONTENT IN SOME WATER WILL LEAVE DEPOSITS THAT CAN BE DIFFICULT TO REMOVE. CAUTION: WHEN YOU SOAK THE CLOTH, DO NOT PUT IT OVER THE SOLVENT CONTAINER MOUTH AND TURN THE CON- TAINER. THIS CAN CAUSE CONTAMMINATION OF THE SOLVENT SOURCE. ALWAYS POUR THE SOLVENT ONTO THE CLOTH OR USE A DISPENSER CAN DESIGNED TO ISOLATE CONTAMINANTS. CAUTION:DO NOT LET SOLVENTS TOUCH THE DECOR MATERIAL OR PLASTIC COMPONENTS. GROUND HANDLING AND SERVICING HANDBOOK RIALS. (2) Use of solvents: NOTE: • We recommend that you apply a corrosion inhibitor to metal surfaces independently of the cleaning material that you use. Metal surfaces are normally treated or anodized to prevent corrosion. Normal wear and abnormal abuse cause corrosion and it is always a factor that you must consider. • Do not scour or abrade surfaces. Corrosion protection is normally a thin layer of anodizing or organic agent. Abrasion can remove the protective film or coating. • Do not permit solvent to evaporate on the surface. • Do not use cloth a second time because this can redeposit contaminants on the surface. • Keep the platings away from the sun. Long exposures discolor the finish. • You must clean the platings every two weeks. • Avoid spills on the finished surface. If it occurs clean immediately. (a) Dampen a clean dry cotton cloth with Windex. Pour it on the cloth. CAUTION: DO NOT USE HARSH OR AMMONIATED CLEANING AGENTS ON A FINISH WHICH WAS SEALED BY A CLEAR COAT. CAUTION: DO NOT USE FORCE DURING CLEANING PROCE- DURES. CAUTION: USE ONLY SOFT NON-SCRATCHING CLOTH. (b) Lightly dust the metal surfaces with the Windex. Repeat the applications as necessary to remove all dirt. For oxidation, powdery white corrosion, use corrosion inhibitor/cleaner. (c) Use a new soft paper towel and gently dust the surface to make sure that it is dried. NOTE: If the parts remain slightly wet, stains appears. (d) Use a clean cloth to apply a thin layer of turtle liquid wax to the platings. NOTE: The turtle liquid wax protects the plated surfaces.
