Memorial provides world-class care.
Newbie-to-DO-BE
Nursing shortages are a big problem
across the nation, and Memorial is no
exception. Newbie-to-DO-BE is a
three-part program developed by
Memorial nurses Janet Sipp, Nancy
Miller, Carol Eddy and Diane Parmelee
to obtain, train and retain the best and
brightest nurses. These sessions for
senior and graduate nursing students
include one-on-one coaching and
internship programs.

Recognizing another growing need in
the community, Terri Skaggs and
Leonora Battani developed Memorial
Language Resource Group (MLRG)

translation to local health care

Office Opens
in Valparaiso

Memorial Health System has opened
an offi ce in Valparaiso to coordinate
the various activities related to the
new hospital project now in the
planning stages.
Memorial closed on the purchase of
53 acres near the intersection of
Route 49 and Burlington Beach Road
in Valparaiso. The plan is that this
Memorial leaders are now working
with physician groups throughout
Northwest Indiana to gather input
about appropriate clinical services and
preventive wellness programs that are
needed in the area. The new facility,
targeted for completion in 2010, will
be owned and operated by Memorial
Health System in partnership with
participating local physicians.
