Health Desnaon
Rhineland
Dear Readers,
Health Destination Rhineland
The health metropolis in the heart of Europe
Garrelt Duin
Minister for Economic Affairs and
Energy, Industry, Commerce and
Crafts of the State of North
Rhine-Westphalia
Project management:
The Project is supported by:
Health and medical tourism are among the
fastest-growing tourism sectors. In future,
North Rhine-Westphalia would like to
present itself even more effectively with
innovative products and offers. The prerequisites
for this are favourable, because
our health system enjoys an outstanding
reputation, especially with international
patients, thanks to its excellent medical
infrastructure and specialised medical
personnel. For North Rhine-Westphalia,
the entire health sector has become a significant
factor in the economy.
Our state is not only a prime location for
high-tech, high-end and telemedicine, but
also offers optimal treatment possibilities
for an extremely wide variety of conditions.
Patients from Germany and abroad are
particularly attracted by medical services
in such disciplines as orthopaedics, cardiology
and neurology, as well as by ophthalmology,
the treatment of obesity and
diabetes therapy, which are also the focus
of articles by experts in this brochure.
At the heart of the “Medical tourism along
the Rhine Corridor: Bonn - Cologne - Düsseldorf“
project is the national and international
marketing of medical excellence,
which provides the basis of its growing
attractiveness to patients from Germany
and abroad.
At the same time, those responsible for
the project want to open the eyes of those
accompanying patients to the many and
varied tourist offers along the Rhine corridor.
This offers great opportunities to draw
additional attention from people all over
the world to the region and the wellness
state of North Rhine Westphalia.
We are glad that so many people are committed
to strengthening health and medical
tourism in our state, and we thank all
those who have collaborated in creating
this brochure.
The metropolitan region of Rhineland from Dusseldorf to Cologne and Bonn is one of the leading medical
destinations in Germany. It is a location for high-tech, top-notch medicine and telemedicine, as
well as pharmaceuticals and medical technology. Many medical services already have national and
international appeal and attract patients and companies to the region along the Rhine.
With the cities of Cologne, Bonn and Leverkusen
and the Rhein-Sieg District, the
Rhine-Erft District, the Oberbergisch District
and the Rheinisch-Bergisch District,
the health region in Rhineland comprises
an area of approximately 4,400 square
kilometres with a total of approximately
3.5 million residents. The state capital
of Dusseldorf has an area of approximately
217 square kilometres with about
600,000 inhabitants. The metropolitan
region of Rhineland, from Dusseldorf, to
Cologne to Bonn, makes up 14 per cent
of the total area and 23 per cent of the
population of NRW.
The healthcare industry is one of the
largest sectors of the economy in both
North Rhine-Westphalia and the Rhineland.
In addition to the high levels of employment,
the healthcare industry in the
Rhineland demonstrates great potential
for innovation.
Many sectors of the regional health economy
have already completed the internationalization
process successfully. In
addition to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology
industries, the medical technology
sector is on the way to conquer
global markets. Health-care facilities, such
as hospitals and rehabilitation clinics, are
also turning their focus internationally
and are broadening their range of skills,
in addition to the sources of extra-budgetary
treatment revenues. This additional
business is becoming increasingly important,
particularly in times of globalization
and the opening of national borders.
As a result, clinics in the metropolitan
Rhineland region have actively sought
international patients. According to the
Federal Statistical Office, some 70.000
foreign patients annually seek inpatient
treatment in German hospitals. Additionally,
there is a far greater number of outpatients.
Almost a fifth of these international
guests opt for a clinic in NRW. Apart
from Aachen, the cities of Dusseldorf,
Bonn and Cologne in particular are the
primary destinations for medical travel.
With more than 25,000 beds in 90 hospitals,
the health region of Cologne-Bonn,
in cooperation with partners from Dusseldorf,
has a significantly higher treatment
capacity than Berlin or Munich.
Particularly popular at the moment in the
„Health Destination Rhineland“ are disciplines
such as ophthalmology, orthopaedics,
trauma surgery and sports orthopaedics,
cardiology, cardiovascular surgery,
oncology, neurology and neurosurgery,
as well as the comprehensive services of
the rehabilitation facilities. Diseases such
as diabetes and obesity are common comorbidities
of inbound patients and are
treated directly.
In addition, numerous tourist and service
providers complement the spectrum
of medical services. The cities of Bonn,
Cologne and Dusseldorf offer first-class
hotels, dining, arts and cultural centres,
leisure attractions and extensive gardens
and parks. The spectrum ranges from the
picturesque Siebengebirge hills with the
legendary Drachenfels to the world-famous
Cologne Cathedral, to Düsseldorf‘s
Königsallee, a shopping boulevard with
designer shops and jewellery stores.
The Dusseldorf International and Cologne
Bonn airports as well as numerous
airlines offer many connections and excellent
access to international target
markets. The „Health Destination Rhineland“
is worth a visit - whether as a guest
or as a patient.
Competence Centre for the Treatment of
Obesity at the Johanniter Hospital in Bonn
The clinic specialises in the treatment of overweight patients and is
certified as a “competence centre for obesity and metabolic surgery”.
In recent years, Evangelischen Kliniken
Bonn gGmbH has successfully established
an interdisciplinary treatment
programme for massively overweight
patients, in which different methods of
treatment, ranging from conservative to
operative therapy, are effectively combined.
As a result of this specialisation, the clinic
was awarded the “Competence centre
for obesity and metabolic surgery”
certificate in November 2011 and is one
of 34 specialist centres in Germany.
The excellent treatment structure comprises
a number of disciplines – surgery,
diabetology, endocrinology and pneumology
– and offers patients all-round
and meticulous care on the path to
weight reduction. In addition to medical
professionals, further specialists such as
dieticians, psychologists, psychiatrists,
physiotherapists and sport trainers are
involved.
The patient benefits from holistic care
“from a single source”.
The therapy plans may include the typical
conservative basic programme
(medical and, where appropriate, psychotherapeutic
components, nutritional
advice, exercise therapy) and/or a proposal
for surgical treatment (minimally
invasive operations: gastric band, gastric
bypass, and gastric sleeve). The programme
is headed by Prof. Dr. A. Türler
(surgery) and Priv.-Doz. Dr. U. Schmitz
(internal medicine-conservative).
In 2011, the department was successfully
certified by the CAADIP (Surgical Working
Group for Adiposity Therapy) of the
DGAV (German Society for General and
Visceral Surgery) as a competence centre
for obesity and metabolic surgery.
Competence in Obesity Surgery at the
St. Johannes Hospital in Troisdorf-Sieglar
The multimodal obesity concept at the St. Johannes Hospital:
Obesity surgery, self-help group, nutritional advice and physiotherapy
– all “under one roof”.
Since 2005, bariatric procedures have
been conducted in the surgical department,
i.e. operations intended to reduce
severe obesity. So-called sleeve resections
and gastric bypasses have established
themselves as procedures. Recent
research has shown that both operations
not only result in significant weight reduction,
but also have a curative effect
on insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus
and elevated blood pressure.
Within the framework of the weekly
consultation, the patient’s individual
medical history is examined in an initial
interview, questions are answered and
fears allayed. In cooperation with resident
doctors of nutritional medicine, diabetologists,
psychotherapists, and working
together with self-help groups and
experts in nutrition, the conservative
possibilities are first exhausted.
A failure of conservative therapy results
in an indication for surgery. The patients
are admitted as inpatients to a specially
equipped ward. The different specialist
departments (internal medicine, radiology,
anaesthesia) are involved in the preoperative
preparations.
The operation itself is conducted by
specially trained surgeons under the supervision
of the head of department Dr.
med. U. Schumann. After an average of
4 to 7 days, the patients can be released
from inpatient treatment. Aftercare
takes place within the framework of an
obesity consulting hour.
The Obesity Centre in the Holy Trinity
Hospital in Wesseling
With Smart-XL®, the Obesity Centre offers an optimal concept
for battling obesity.
Obesity – a chronic condition, which
brings with it a high risk of further serious
and even life-threatening illnesses,
and leads to a considerable deterioration
in the quality of life.
The Wesseling Obesity Centre, which was
certified in summer 2011, offers Smart-
XL®, a unique multimodal therapy concept
for fighting obesity. This includes
exercise therapy from exercise therapists,
nutritional advice from qualified nutritional
scientists, and behaviour modification
from behavioural therapists. The
individual modules are offered both in
group therapy and individual meetings.
The whole programme takes 27 months.
After submission of an application, the
costs are borne by the insurer.
As it is unique, Prof. Dr. C. A. Jacobi
addresses national and international
congresses about the concept. If, during
the course of a patient’s treatment, it
becomes clear that an operation makes
sense, the appropriate optimal method is
discussed with the patient.
The bariatric procedures carried out at
the Wesseling Obesity Centre include the
fitting of a gastric band, gastric sleeve or
gastric bypass.
Following a surgical procedure, the patients
continue to be given care in relation
to exercise and nutrition. Inclusion in a
self-help group helps to achieve an optimal
and lasting outcome.
Department of Obesity Surgery and Metabolic
Surgery at the St. Franziskus-Hospital
in Cologne-Ehrenfeld
The department is the only certified competence centre for obesity
surgery in this district of Cologne.
Chronic obesity and health consequences
such as high blood pressure, arthrosis,
fatty liver and diabetes give rise
to a poor quality of life and millions of
deaths. Starting from a BMI of over 40
kg/m², a change of diet, sporting activities
and behavioural therapy alone are
generally ineffective. Only operations
can lead to a long-term weight loss of
approx. 70%. An exhaustive consultation
is initially usually followed by participation
in a conservative therapy programme
lasting 6 or 12 months and in self-help
groups. If that does not prove sufficient,
we accompany the patient on the path
to an operation. Prior to the procedure,
risks are minimised by means of comprehensive
risk screening. The following
procedures are (almost always) conducted
minimally invasively:
- Gastric bypass
(Y or “mini gastric bypass”),
- Gastric sleeve,
- Biliopancreatic diversion,
- Gastric band and gastric balloon.
The department specialises in the treatment
of particularly heavy patients, “revision
and redo surgery” (e.g. if there
are problems after an earlier procedure)
and abdominal wall reconstruction
through plastic surgery. An interdisciplinary
team supports the generally short
in-patient treatment and the outpatient
aftercare programme.
Obesity Surgery and Metabolic Surgery at
the Cologne-Merheim Clinic
The Obesity Surgery and Metabolic Surgery Department offers
the highest level of competence, from initial contact through to
long-term aftercare.
One in two Germans has too high a bodyweight,
which puts their health at risk.
Obesity restricts the quality of life and
is often related to accompanying illnesses
and secondary ailments. In cases of
extreme obesity, life may even be shortened.
At the Cologne-Merheim Obesity Centre,
headed by Dr. med. Jürgen S. Meyer,
an interdisciplinary team with a graduate
nutritional scientist, gradual psychologist
and two experienced surgeons is
available.
A self-help group provides support. If it
is established that a patient suffers from
obesity requiring treatment, an attempt
is first made to reduce his or her weight
with conservative measures. Only if this
proves unsuccessful are surgical measures
considered. All customary operations
are offered as minimally invasive. Thanks
to the multidisciplinary nature of the
clinic and team, adequate provision for
obese patients is ensured.
This applies in particular to patients with
obesity III° or IV°, for whom nutritional,
behavioural, exercise and, where appropriate,
surgical therapy can achieve lasting
weight reduction and a prevention or improvement
of accompanying conditions.
needs of its patients. Typical secondary
ailments such as diabetes, high blood
pressure and sleep apnoea can be significantly
improved or cured by the procedures
offered.
Information, support, provision:
If conservative treatment with nutritional
advice, exercise therapy and, if necessary,
behavioural therapy does not
bring the desired success, an operation
can be considered. In a series of consultations,
doctors then explain in detail the
different possible procedures to the pa-
tient and discuss at length the possible
risks involved and long-term consequences.
We offer a range of options for losing
weight, including the following:
• Gastric banding
Stomach reduction for a faster
sense of satiety
• Gastric sleeve (sleeve gastrectomy)
Stomach reduction for a faster sense
of satiety
• Gastric bypass
Stomach reduction and deactivation
of the upper small intestine for a faster
sense of satiety and reduced food
utilisation
All interventions are minimally intensive,
i.e. particularly gentle for the patient. At
the outpatient consultation, individual
and ongoing aftercare is provided, which
is decisive in achieving lasting successful
therapy.
Lifestyle medicine
In the field of lifestyle medicine, ZMAC
also offers treatment with a stomach balloon
or fat dissolution through injection
lipolysis.
The Obesity Centre at the St. Marien
Hospital Ratingen GmbH
Two thirds of the population of industrialised countries are
overweight. One in five is even obese.
At the Ratingen obesity centre, a conservative,
multimodal therapy concept for
combating chronic obesity is offered by
a team of specialists. The concept consists
of nutritional therapy, exercise therapy
and behavioural therapy.
Certified, interdisciplinary treatment in
accordance with international standards
is thus offered to its patients.
Moreover, for many years the surgical
treatment of obesity patients at the
obesity centre of the St. Marien Hospital
Ratingen has been subject to external
quality assurance and is certified in
accordance with the guidelines of the
German Society for General and Visceral
Surgery (DGAV).
The procedures, which are conducted
using minimally invasive technology,
include: implantation of stomach balloon,
implantation of adjustable gastric
band, laparoscopic stomach bypass, laparoscopic
sleeve resection, laparoscopic
mini bypass, biliopancreatic division
with duodenal switch, redo operations.
At special consultations, the patients receive
life-long aftercare at the centre. If
that is not possible, for international patients
in particular, a multilingual e-mail
and telephone service is also available.
The University Clinic Dusseldorf offers optimal safety and
competence as well as interdisciplinary therapies – from
initial contact through to aftercare.
The Clinic for General, Visceral and Paediatric
Surgery headed by Univ.-Prof. Dr.
med. Wolfram Trudo Knoefel, the Clinics
for Endocrinology and Diabetology and
Metabolic Disorders headed by Univ.-
Prof. Dr. med. univ. M. Roden and the
Clinical Institute for Psychosomatics and
Psychotherapy headed by Univ.-Prof. Dr.
med. Dr. phil. W. Tress are the three pillars
of the multimodal therapy approach
for the treatment of obesity and its
health consequences.
The clinic has many years of experience
in both the conservative and surgical
treatment of obesity. All possibilities
ranging from diagnosis through conservative
therapy procedures to all obesity
surgery procedures are available, including
a wide selection of plastic surgery
interventions.
Moreover, it has proven expertise precisely
in nutritional medicine, the treatment
of diabetes and all other classic
accompanying conditions of obesity, as
well as in the field of psychosomatics
and psychotherapy.
70 further specialised clinics and institutes
are closely networked at the clinic.
This makes possible a diagnostic and
therapeutic concept, adjusted individually
to each patient, for the achievement
of the respective therapeutic goal.
Due to attendant symptoms, the chronically overweight are an
increasing medical and economic problem for our society.
The theory elaborated in scientific studies,
that long-term weight reduction
and thus an improvement in metabolic
complications can be achieved through
diets and changes in living habits, does
not normally prove true in practice. On
the other hand, surgical therapy of obesity
is currently the most effective form
of therapy to not only lower weight, but
also control Type 2 diabetes. Metabolic
operations are today among the most
frequently conducted interventions, although
relatively little is currently know
about how they work.
Obviously, it is not stomach reduction
per se and the resultant reduced intake
of calories that leads to long-term weight
reduction. The main mechanism of action
is a lessened sense of hunger and
an increased sense of satiety through
complex physiological mechanisms. In
addition to the classic surgical procedures,
such as laparoscopic gastric bypass,
interventional therapy concepts, such as
EndoBarrier Therapy, are considered for
certain groups of patients.
EndoBarrier® Therapy for patients with
Type 2 diabetes and obesity
Due to constantly rising Type 2 diabetes
and obesity rates, new treatment
options are needed to effectively overcome
these conditions. For this reason,
the St. Martinus Hospital Düsseldorf
now offers EndoBarrier® Therapy, an innovative,
non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical
method of treatment for Type 2 diabetes
and/or obesity. The St. Martinus
Hospital Düsseldorf is one of the leading
institutions offering EndoBarrier Therapy,
which supports patients in improving
their diabetes, weight and general state
of health.
Rhein-Ahr-Sieg Diabetes Centre at the
Community Hospital Bonn – Treatment
for Diabetic Food Syndrome in Good Hands
Diabetic foot is a dangerous complication of diabetes mellitus. Only
interdisciplinary collaboration makes good treatment success possible.
The Rhein-Ahr-Sieg diabetes centre at
the Community Hospital Bonn offers
outpatients and inpatients a differentiated
programme for the improvement of
metabolic control and for the treatment
or prevention of secondary ailments
of diabetes. The objective is to create
an individual therapy concept for you,
which facilitates coping with the condition
in everyday life, so that in cooperation
with you the best possible therapy
for your condition can be achieved.
The Community Hospital Bonn has many
years of experience in the treatment of
diabetic foot syndrome.
The “Internal Medicine/Endocrinology
and Diabetology” clinical unit provides
safe treatment of diabetes and its
consequences as well as of secondary
ailments in the area of internal medicine.
Moreover, conservative therapy for
purely neuropathic ulcers is provided,
including orthotic relief. The work of the
treatment centre has been recognised
by the German Diabetes Society.
The main focus of the disciplines “Interventional
radiology and vascular
surgery” is on the conduct of specific
angiographic, nuclear spin and computer
tomography investigations for the
diagnosis of a PAOD. There is a high level
of expertise in treating both radiologically
interventional and surgical diabetic
vascular complications unil into
the foot area.
The comprehensive work of the Rhein-
Ahr-Sieg diabetes centre at the Community
Hospital Bonn is rounded off by
the Heart and Vascular Centre, which
is involved in the care of the cardiovascular
high-risk collective, and by the
Centre for Orthopaedics and Trauma
Surgery, which is involved in issues surrounding
Charcot foot or complex foot
deformities.
Integrated medical care for patients with diabetes and
related cardiovascular illnesses.
Led by Prof. Dr. med. Frank M. Baer, the
medical clinic of the St. Antonius Hospital
has developed from being a highlyregarded
certified clinic specialising in
diabetes to become one of Germany’s
largest cardio-diabetes centres with the
integrated treatment of related cardiovascular
illnesses.
Specialists in diabetology, cardiology,
angiology, wound surgery and radiology
make possible an individualised
treatment of diabetes from initiation
of treatment through to stem cell therapy
in the case of complex vascular
late damage. They are supported by an
experienced team of diabetes advisers,
wound nurses, podiatrists, psychologists
and graduate sport teachers. The competence
developed over many years is
embedded in an optimal care structure
with the networking of radiological
cross-sectional diagnostic imaging (multislice
CT, MRT) and a state-of-the-art
catheterisation laboratory, a facility of
the Heart Centre of Cologne University.
High-tech medicine with gentle vascular
therapy for the heart and peripheral arteries
also forms part of the treatment
offered, as does an efficient diabetic
outpatient foot department with podiatric
care, the centre’s own teaching kitchen
and didactically optimised training
courses in the modern premises of the
interdisciplinary diabetes unit.
For patients from Arabic or Russianspeaking
countries, and for Turkishspeaking
patients, individual training
and treatments are offered by the medical
and care staff in their respective
mother tongue.
Endocrinology and Diabetology at the PAN
Clinic Cologne: Diagnosis and Therapy of
Hormonal Disorders
Hormones affect our lives in many different ways. Metabolic and
endocrine disorders such as diabetes mellitus or osteoporosis are
on the rise worldwide.
Since September 2012, the Department
for Internal Endocrinology and Diabetology
has existed at the PAN Clinic. As
endocrinology is a key interface to numerous
specialities, which are already
represented at the PAN Clinic, the competence
of the PAN Clinic is strengthened.
Patients with diabetes mellitus in
particular can also profit from this, since
through cooperation with disciplines
such as cardiology, vascular surgery and
ophthalmology, comprehensive patient
care becomes possible.
The spectrum ranges from early detection
of diabetes mellitus, through the
initiation or change of therapy, to the
treatment of secondary ailments. Risk
factors of diabetes mellitus, such as obesity,
can be tackled specifically through
nutritional advice and exercise therapy
in cooperation with the PAN prevention
centre. If outpatient care does not prove
to be sufficient, inpatient care is also offered
at the PAN Clinic.
The Department for Endocrinology and
Diabetology is led by Dr. Georg Mansmann,
a specialist in internal medicine
and endocrinology.
Individual and interdisciplinary therapy
The MVZ PAN Institute for Endocrinology
and Reproductive Medicine is affiliated
to the PAN Clinic am Neumarkt. Internalmedicine
endocrinology is in close dialogue
with the numerous neighbouring
disciplines, which are represented here.
Joint Strategies for Diabetes Patients
at the St. Vinzenz Hospital
Top medical competence and human closeness.
The Clinic for Internal Medicine II – Diabetology
and Endocrinology, led by Prof.
Dr. Stephan Schneider, focuses on the diagnosis
and therapy of diabetes, thyroid
and all other hormonally induced diseases.
The adverse effects of diabetes are
prevented by tailored therapy and any
diabetes complications are optimally
treated.
A particular focus is the treatment of diabetic
foot syndrome. Here it is primarily
a holistic view of the patient, resulting
from interdisciplinary dialogue among
colleagues from the vascular surgery
and cardiology departments, which is of
help.
As diseases such as diabetic foot syndrome
are frequently accompanied by
vascular diseases, the further stages
of treatment are determined together,
for the well-being of the patient. Consequently,
the clinic has the country’s
lowest foot amputation rate (and was
awarded the NRW 2012 health prize).
In addition to modern first-class medical
treatment, training in real-life conditions,
human warmth and caring, as well
as the highest level of care are elementary
components in how we look after
our patients.
Thanks to its excellent success in treatment,
the Clinic for Internal Medicine II
is one of the few departments in Germany
to have been recommended by the
German Society for Endocrinology.
The clinic and the treatment it offers
have also been certified by the German
Diabetes Society as a diabetes centre for
diabetic foot syndrome as well as for patients
with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
Clinic for Endocrinology and Diabetology
Treatment of all hormonally induced diseases, of diabetes
mellitus and of metabolic disorders and obesity.
At the Clinic for Endocrinology and Diabetology
at the University Clinic Düsseldorf,
patients with all endocrinological
symptoms (e.g. dysfunctions and
tumours of the thyroid gland, pituitary
gland, adrenal gland, parathyroid gland,
calcium metabolism as well as osteoporosis),
diabetes, obesity and other metabolic
disorders are treated as inpatients
and outpatients. Individual training measures
and comprehensive care round off
the therapeutic and treatment concept.
The clinic of the University Clinic Düsseldorf
works closely together with the
Institute for Clinical Diabetology at the
German Diabetes Centre (DDZ). In cooperation
with the DDZ, patients of the
clinic have the opportunity to participate
in contemporary and innovative research.
The aim is to offer the patients, who
often have a complex set of endocrinological
symptoms, an optimal diagnosis
and therapy, so that the most successful
treatment can be ensured. The clinic
cooperates closely with the German
Diabetes Centre (DDZ; Director Prof. Dr.
Roden) and makes recognised contributions
to international research.
The main focuses of our treatment:
• All forms of thyroid and parathyroid
gland disorders
• All forms of diabetes mellitus
• Dysfunctions of the bone metabolism
(osteoporosis)
• Pituitary and adrenal gland disorders
• Therapy of tumours of hormone-producing
organs
West German Diabetes and Health Centre
(WDGZ)
Individual health checks, diabetes management and telemedicine
under one roof.
The West German Diabetes and Health
Centre (WDGZ) health centre offers a
comprehensive preventive care programme:
from the recording of the
patient’s state of health through to an
individual diabetes programme with
subsequent telemedicine aftercare.
Headed by Professor Dr. med. Stephan
Martin, one of the leading experts in the
prevention of cardiovascular diseases
and the treatment of diabetes mellitus,
the West German Diabetes and Health
Centre (WDGZ) conducts medically indicated
examinations
Anamnesis and health checks
After a medical consultation regarding
previous illnesses and the patient’s current
state of health, extensive blood and
ultrasound testing (heart, blood vessels,
and abdominal organs) and stress tests
(lungs and heart) are conducted. A complete
health check normally takes two
hours. All findings are explained in detail.
Diabetes management and telemedicine
In cases of diabetes mellitus or high
blood pressure, the WDGZ offers longterm
care. Alongside the latest therapy
through medication, great emphasis is
placed on lifestyle factors such as weight
and physical activity.
Telemedicine equipment is also available
for this, by means of which blood
glucose, blood pressure, weight and
physical activity are transmitted to the
WDGZ, so that outpatient aftercare can
be guaranteed.
Roth Eye Clinic at the St. Josef Hospital Bonn
This establishment, which is equipped for all eventualities,
provides particular safety specifically for older patients.
Since it was joined by Dr. Felix Roth and
Dr. Claudia Inhetvin-Hutter, who enjoys a
national reputation, the Roth Eye Clinic,
run by the fourth generation of the family,
offers ophthalmology at the highest
level Both in terms of diagnosis and in its
therapeutic possibilities, its work is based
on state-of-the-art medicine. Thus a joint
eye-care practice and a medical care centre
for anaesthesia and ophthalmology
are integrated into the clinic. These are
complemented by a laser centre.
The associated ophthalmology inpatient
ward of the St. Josef-Hospital Bonn supplements
the interlinked outpatient and
inpatient treatment. Finally, the clinic
is connected with an ocular diagnostics
centre for use by the resident colleagues.
In generous, yet comfortable modern
premises, the clinic provides everything
which modern ophthalmology offers
today. In addition to conventional diagnostics,
the high-standard equipment
also includes a wide range of computerbased
diagnostic imaging procedures.
Practically all lasers that have proven
themselves to be of value in ophthalmology
are available.
In the interests of consistent high treatment
quality, all operations in the Roth
Eye Clinic are conducted by the consultants
themselves.
Our main focuses:
• Cataract, glaucoma and lid surgery
• Refractive interventions
(LASIK surgery)
• Refractive surgery
• etinal surgery
• Treatment of retinal and vitreous
disorders, in particular of age-related
macular degeneration
The Hochkreuz Eye Clinic
Here the focus is on seeing well.
Since it was founded in 2004 by the pioneers
in outpatient eye surgery, Prof. Dr.
Koch and Dr. Peter Brauweiler, the Hochkreuz
Eye Clinic has become one of the
leading specialist clinics for outpatient
eye surgery. Every year, well over 4,500
outpatient eye operations are carried out.
The Hochkreuz Eye Clinic’s range of
treatments comprises all ophthalmological
disorders. These include, in the
anterior segment, in particular operations
on the cornea, iris, eye lens and all
refractive surgery. The latest operating
equipment and lasers, including the excimer
laser, are available to the doctors
for their work.
In the posterior segment, the clinic
treats all diseases in the vitreous and
retinal regions, such as age-dependent
macular degeneration, floaters (“seeing
flies”), but also retinal detachments,
diabetic retinal alterations and vascular
disorders of the retina.
For this broad range of operations, the
clinic has its own operating centre with
five operating theatres with state-ofthe-art
equipment.
The two heads of the Hochkreuz Eye
Clinic, Erbil Türkdamar and Dr. Andreas
K. Cordes, are renowned specialists in
ophthalmology. They regularly exchange
knowledge and experience at national
and international congresses.
The range of services offered by the
Hochkreuz Eye Clinic:
• Cataract and glaucoma surgery
• Corneal transplantation
• LASIK, LASEK, artificial lens implantation
• Revision surgery after accidents and
preceding operations
• Retinal disorders
• Macular degeneration
• Vitreous surgery
• Plastic and cosmetic-aesthetic eye
surgery
Every year, the Bonn University Eye Clinic
helps many thousands of people to
see better. As a maximum-care clinic,
it covers the entire spectrum of ophthalmology.
In the areas of diagnosis,
therapy and all surgical interventions,
state-of-the-art medical technology,
the highest standards of quality and the
most recent scientific knowledge benefit
both inpatients and outpatients.
In numerous special consultations, the
patient is provided with the right contact
person from an excellently trained team
of specialists, whatever the ophthalmological
problem. Interdisciplinary care is
ensured by a close relationship to disciplines
represented at the Bonn University
Clinic. In addition to patient care, the
experienced and highly-qualified doctors
also engage intensively in scientific
research and education, participating
in many international studies. Owing to
their great experience, high qualifications
and scientific achievements, our
doctors, who in many cases have received
highly endowed scientific awards,
are much in demand as speakers at congresses
throughout the world.
Together with regional and nationally
based ophthalmologists, in 2012 the
Bonn University Eye Clinic founded the
ophthalmological care network “Augennetz
quality network is to ensure seamless,
excellent integrated patient provision at
the highest medical level, based on the
latest research.
The service spectrum of the University
Eye Hospital Bonn:
• Surgery of the anterior segments
• Vitreous and corneal surgery
• Laser surgery
Centre for Ophthalmology of the
Cologne University Clinic
The Cologne University Eye Clinic offers the entire spectrum of modern
surgical and conservative ophthalmology at the highest level.
The Cologne University Eye Clinic uses
modern, minimally invasive procedures,
which minimise the risk involved in
a necessary eye operation. Under the
supervision of Prof. Dr. med. Cursiefen,
lamellar corneal transplantation surgery
for endothelial dystrophies (DMEK,
DSAEK) and keratokonus (DALK) is possible.
Furthermore, refractive laser and
lens surgery (implantable lenses, LASIK,
LASEK) are offered to improve sight and
render spectacles unnecessary. In addition
to conventional glaucoma treatment,
modern, gentle non-filtering glaucoma
surgery using canaloplasty and Trabectome®
surgery is a method used at the
Cologne University Eye Clinic.
Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. med.
Kirchhof, complex retinal disorders are
diagnosed and treated. He specialises,
for example, in the intravitreal treatment
of macular diseases.
As part of the university, the University
Eye Clinic specialises in rare eye diseases
and offers special consultations (e.g. dry
eye, GvHD, tumour consultation, macula
consultation etc.).
sehkraft Maus Eye Centre in Cologne
More and more patients are trusting themselves to the many
years of experience and high medical quality of the sehkraft
Eye Centre in Cologne.
With its technological equipment, highly
qualified team and many years of experience,
the sehkraft Maus Eye Centre is
one of the best addresses for refractive
laser and lens surgery and for cataract
operations worldwide. 50,000 successful
interventions have been performed since
it opened in 1991. The centre’s technology
is, as a whole, unique in Germany, and
across the world there are only a few centres
working at this high level.
In the field of laser surgery, the sehkraft
Eye Centre has the world‘s two fastest
and most modern lasers, the Allegretto
Wave Concerto and the Refractive Suite.
These lasers need only 1.4 seconds per
dioptre to sharpen vision. Due to this
speed, the Concerto has the most precise
(precision of less than a thousandth of a
millimetre) and the lowest tissue ablation
per dioptre. It is therefore possible to correct
vision defects of -12 to +6 dioptres.
As the only “KAMRA Centre of Excellence”
in Germany, sehkraft implants the
most KAMRA inlays for the correction of
age-related long-sightedness throughout
Europe.
In the field of cataract surgery, sehkraft is
a leader in the implantation of innovative
premium lenses, which not only remove
cataracts, but at the same time correct defective
vision and thus make possible a life
without spectacles. Moreover, the sehkraft
Eye Centre is the first centre in Cologne
to offer femtosecond laser-supported
lens exchange. Here key OP steps, previously
carried out manually, are performed
with a laser. This treatment is more gentle
and more precise thanks to the optimal
placement of the artificial lens.
The long-standing experience and the individual
and unique range of treatments,
together with a highly qualified team of
engineers, masters of science, master
opticians and specially trained medical
assistants make for the high quality and
success of the centre. One reason why
companies like Alcon, WaveLight and
AcuFocus specify sehkraft as an international
reference centre.
Dusseldorf University Eye Clinic &
At the Dusseldorf University Eye Clinic,
all diseases of the anterior and posterior
surgically and conservatively. The
doctors focusing on the “anterior segment”,
“retina” and “vision therapy/plastic
professional knowledge. The excellent
medical and scientific reputation benefits
the patient: contemporary research
findings are discussed with the patient
and consequences for the individual therapy
are directly implemented.
With the introduction of the focus team,
great store is consciously set by personal
patient care. The daily visits are carried
out by attending physicians, who are
available as contact persons. After inpatient
care, the further outpatient care is
provided by these same doctors.
Thus a close doctor-patient relationship
is created as the foundation for trust and
successful treatment.
The Düsseldorf University Eye Clinic is
one of the biggest centres for corneal
transplantations in Germany. Since
1997, the clinic has the Lions Cornea
Bank North Rhine-Westphalia at its disposal.
This provides donor material for
all forms of corneal
transplantation
(DMEK, DSAEK,
DALK, PKP).
Today, it is the largest
institution of its
type in the country
and makes possible
both the issuing of fixed appointments
for transplantations that can be planned
as well as the carrying out of emergency
operations at any time.
Bonn: „Gateway to the Romantic Rhine“
Bonn surprises with its ever-changing faces: Two thousand years of history, Beethoven‘s birthplace,
the city along the Romantic Rhine, former federal capital, the German UN city and an impressive
cultural landscape invite visitors to explore.
Baroque Splendour and Elegant Flair
Many buildings in Bonn stem from the
times of the prince-electors, when the
city was the seat of royal power. The university
is located in the former Royal Palace
and the rococo Town Hall continues
to receive guests at the most prominent
location downtown.
Beethoven‘s Birthplace
Beethoven‘s birthplace
is not far from the residential
palace. As a museum,
it tells of the life
of the world famous musician
and is much-loved
by national and international guests.
The Beethoven Festival takes place each
fall in honour of the great composer, and
musicians and ensembles from around
the world come to Bonn to perform.
A Must: the Museum Mile
The Museum Mile with its exciting exhibits
is very popular with art lovers from
home and abroad. The Art and Exhibition
Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany,
which often houses up to five different
exhibits, the Bonn Art Museum with
the Rhenish Expressionists and German
art after 1945, and the Museum of the
History of the Federal Republic of Germany
with its astonishing enactments
of the recent past - these buildings are
also exciting from an architectural point
of view. The German Museum in Bonn
- the first museum of contemporary research
and technology in Germany - and
the redesigned Museum Koenig, one of
the finest natural history museums in
the country, are also very popular with
young visitors.
There‘s more, however: the Rhenish
State Museum, the Arithmeum, the
Women‘s Museum, the August Macke
House and many others. For a city of
about 320,000 inhabitants, the range of
museums is impressive.
On the Trail of the Capital City Era
In the former government district, visitors
can wander the traces of the capital
city era. On the „Path of Democracy“, visitors
pass by the political stations from
the past 60 years: like the Villa Hammerschmidt,
today official residence of the
Chancellor, and the Chancellor‘s bungalow,
which contains the representative
and the private rooms of the Chancellor.
Castles and Unspoiled
Nature along the Rhine
The Siebengebirge next
to Bonn with their legendary
Drachenfels and the
historic Petersberg form
the gate to the Romantic
Rhine. With the Drachenfelsbahn, the
oldest rack-and-pinion railway in Germany,
visitors travel up to the plateau
of the most-frequented mountain in
the country. Halfway up is Drachenburg
Castle, which has been lovingly restored
and is affectionately called „Neuschwanstein
on the Rhine“.
„Rhine in Flames“
Every year on the first Saturday in May,
the Rhine and its castles and attractions
from Linz to Bonn shine in magical red
light and an illuminated boat parade
travels along the river up to the Bonn
Rheinaue Leisure Park, where a dramatic
fireworks show synchronized with music
concludes the evening.
The Vibrant City on the Rhine
Cologne offers a vibrant cultural life,
international trade fairs and congresses
and countless large-scale events.
Attractions like the Cologne Cathedral,
a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the
twelve great Romanesque churches in
Cologne create unforgettable experiences.
In addition, the cathedral city has
many museums and galleries which offer
the most diverse exhibits on the city‘s
history as well as modern and contemporary
subjects. Shopping streets, alleys
and unique flair: Cologne is an insider tip
among the shopping centres in Germany.
Not to mention the exceptional nightlife;
Cologne has the highest density of bars
in Germany. 3300 gastronomic operations
invite guests to enjoy a cold Kölsch.
A Modern City with
2,000 Years of History
Cologne‘s 2,000 year
history can be experienced
everywhere: in
a visit to the Roman-
Germanic Museum, the
Roman Praetorium, or a stroll past medieval
city gates. The Cologne Cathedral
is not only a number-one attraction
in the city, but in all of Germany. More
than 6.5 million people a year visit the
UNESCO World Heritage Site. The imposing
Gothic cathedral houses the Shrine
of the Three Kings, and there are twelve
other great Romanesque churches that
make „Holy Cologne“ one of the most
important pilgrimage sites in Europe.
Outstanding Arts and
Culture Scene
42 museums and 120
galleries with a variety of
collections from all periods
testify to Cologne‘s
reputation as an arts and
cultural centre. In addition, Cologne has
a very lively theatre scene. Productions
of opera and plays as well as numerous
literary and film events round out the
city‘s colourful cultural options.
Experiences for the Whole Family
The Cologne Zoo is the third oldest zoo
in Germany and enjoys lasting popularity
with its 20,000 m² elephant park and
the elephant children Marlar, Ming Jung,
Maha Kumari and Khin Yadanar Min.
Cologne’s sweetest museum is the Chocolate
Museum. Here, visitors learn
about the production of the popular delicacy,
before being able to enjoy the finest
chocolate from a real chocolate fountain.
Next door, at the German Sports and
Olympic Museum, visitors can admire the
extensive sports history exhibits. Other
highlights include the Odysseum, a huge
interactive experience for the whole family
with over 5,500 m² to explore experiments.
The famous Phantasialand in neighbouring
Brühl offers an exciting amusement park
experience for young and old.
Traditional Brewery Culture
Visitors can best experience
Cologne‘s „Kölsch“
culture in the Old Town.
Just steps away from the
cathedral, characteristic,
bright gabled houses
line the Rhine promenade.
In the many brewpubs, visitors
always enjoy a Kölsch, a top-fermented
beer, which may only be brewed in Cologne
and is served in „Stangen“, long,
thin cylindrical glasses by „Köbes“, traditional
Kölsch waiters. Cologne cuisine,
including specialties such as the „Halven
Hahn“, „Himmel un Ääd“ or „Kölsch caviar“,
pair well with the beer. The „kölsch“
lifestyle is infectious, and reason enough
to visit Cologne.
Shopping in the region combines fascinating variety -
Dusseldorf, Cologne and Bonn
Apart from high-class medical care, excellence in research, development, and medical technology and
a full-service support at the highest level, the Rhineland metropolitan region offers its guests from
home and abroad unique culture, shopping and lifestyle. From culinary experiences to action-charged
highlights, there is something for every visitor.
Cologne: the shopping city
As a centre of trade, Cologne has been of great economic importance
since the Middle Ages long ago, developing the ideal conditions
for long-distance trade in the European economic realm.
The excellent transport infrastructure has been preserved up to
the modern day in Cologne. A particular feature of Cologne is the
accessibility of the numerous shopping areas by foot; Cologne is
a shopping city with a very unique, eclectic and diverse flair.
Schildergasse and Hohe Straße
The Schildergasse has numerous flagship stores and many wellknown
brands. As the most-frequently visited and most popular
shopping street in Germany, the Schildergasse attracts audiences
from around the world. The Hohe Straße is the heart of Cologne‘s
shopping world and appeals primarily to younger shoppers, since it
is filled with national and international fashion stores that cater to a
younger audience. High-end companies have established branches
on the street in the direction of Wallrafplatz/Domkloster/Minoritenstraße.
The area around the Cathedral is the perfect location for
those looking for gifts.
Ehrenstraße and Breite Straße
Cologne‘s Ehrenstraße is an absolute „trend location“ and is wellknown
beyond the borders of the city. Unusual and innovative
concepts have their place in this street, which makes for a colorful
mix of clothes, shoes and accessories, of tradition and modernity.
On Breite Straße there are a total of three shopping centres:
the Opern Passagen, the DuMont Carré and the WDR Arcades.
The Belgian quarter
Named after its street name, the „Belgian Quarter“ is the location
of creative business ideas and young designers. The Belgian Quarter
has established itself as a centre for young, edgy fashion in recent
years - a result of the „Chic Belgique“ initiative. Pretty little shops
around the Brüsseler Platz offer unique accessories, gifts and fashion.
Mittelstraße and Pfeilstraße
With exclusive fashion, the Mittelstraße and its bordering, smaller
streets make for a high-class boulevard. Well-known brands
and high-quality shops can be found there.
unique and quaint charm, filled with antique shops, galleries
and art shops.
The „Kö“
Major international designers such as Armani, Bulgari, Gucci, Jil
Sander, Prada and Versace are present on the luxurious Königsallee,
one of the top shopping boulevards in Europe. Here on the
„Kö“ posh boutiques, top fashion boutiques and shopping malls
alternate with elegant outdoor cafes.
Schadowstraße
Schadowstraße also offers attractive shopping in the numerous
shopping malls in the city. Tiffany & Co., Marco Polo,
Hugo Boss, Strellson, Escada, Calvin Klein and Abercrombie &
Fitch are just a few of the tenants. Those who are looking for
something less expensive will find it also in Dusseldorf:
With more than 120 shops, the Dusseldorf arcades attract
shoppers from all over. Well-heeled clients, models and bankers
stroll along numerous designer and jewellery stores. In
comparison to other European countries and with it´s more
than 30 top shopping addresses, the „Kö“ belongs to the locations
with the highest density of luxury brands and companies.
Dusseldorf Arcaden, Lorettostrasse and Flingern
Those who are looking for good deals and something more
affordable will certainly make a find in Dusseldorf: The Dusseldorf
Arcaden attracts with 120 shops and fashion far away
from the mainstream. Enthusiastic shoppers and trendsetters
Entry formalities for medical treatment in Germany
EU nationals
EU nationals do not require a visa to enter the Federal Republic
of Germany.
Non-EU nationals
Generally speaking, non-EU nationals require a visa for stays
in Germany. A visa is not required for semi-annual visits of up
to 90 days for nationals of those countries for which the European
Community has abolished the visa requirement. For the
issuing of a visitor or tourist visa for short stays not exceeding
3 months in a member state of the Schengen area with medical
treatment as the purpose of the trip, an application must
be submitted by the patient to the respective mission of the
destination country. Accompanying persons must themselves
submit an application for a Schengen visa.
Responsibility for the granting of visas
Pursuant to section 71 (2) of the Residence Act, responsibility
for issuing visas lies with the missions of the Federal Republic
of Germany i.e. its embassies and consulates-general.
Local responsibility for issuing the visa lies with the mission responsible
for the area in which the applicant has his/her ordinary
place of residence or domicile.
Visa for medical treatment in Germany
A visa application must be submitted by the applicant in person
to the mission responsible for his/her place of residence. Acutely
ill patients may have their applications submitted to the
visa section of the German Embassy by an authorised person.
For submission by a third party, an authorisation signed by the
patient in front of a notary and a corresponding current medical
certificate must be presented to the embassy. As a rule,
missions require between two and ten working days to process
a Schengen visa application. Applications for a longer period of
medical treatment may take several months to process.
The following documents are required for the application:
• Identification card and copies of the pages with personal data
• Completed application, signed in person, for the issuance
of a Schengen visa with attached current, colour biometric
passport photo (size 3.5 x 4.5 cm)
• plus a second biometric passport photo
• A declaration signed in person pursuant to section 55 of the
Residence Act
• Travel health insurance with proof of payment and a copy
(valid for all member states of Schengen for the entire stay
applied for with minimum cover of EUR 30,000)
• Original birth certificate and a copy
(for minors of up to 18 years: birth certificate and declaration
of consent by both parents)
Additional information for foreign patients
1. Confirmation by the clinic / attending physician
The letter of confirmation from the clinic / attending physician
regarding the necessity of the forthcoming medical stay has to include
detailed information about the start of treatment, the probable
duration of treatment and the likely costs (with a comprehensive
breakdown of the individual costs). The letter must not be
over 3 months old. It must be in writing. A declaration by a doctor
or a medical institution may be required to the effect that the necessary
medical treatment is not possible in the home country.
If an agency is commissioned with the organisation of the treatment,
it should be noted that any information regarding the costs,
scope and duration of the treatment must be confirmed solely by
the clinic itself or attending physician himself/herself.
2. Financing confirmation of the clinic or declaration on the
assumption of costs
The patient must submit a declaration that the financing of the
treatment and the stay is secured (e.g. bank statements for at
least 3 months / bank certificates regarding the current balance
of the account / proof of the transfer of the probable costs or,
by way of confirmation by the clinic, that the payment is secured).
In the case of a declaration on the assumption of costs
by another party, a formal declaration of liability pursuant to
sections 66 to 68 of the Residence Act is required. This must
not be more than 6 months old and must refer to the medical
treatment (the original and a copy must be presented).
3. Reservation confirmation for accommodation
The place of stay of the patient (for outpatient treatment) must
be demonstrated by him or her by way of evidence (e.g. confirmation
of hotel reservation). If the patient is to be accommodated
with a private person, a formal declaration of liability pursuant to
sections 66 and 68 of the Residence Act must be presented.
4. Proofs of willingness to return
It may be the case that proofs of the social and economic situation
of the patient (e.g. by means of letters from employers, salary
statements, company licences, account statements for the last
three months, proofs of ownership etc.) have to be presented.
Additional information for accompanying persons:
The accompanying person(s) of the patient is/are obliged to
present certain evidence when a visa application is made. These
include in particular:
- Proof of financing
- Proof of accommodation
- Proof of willingness to return
More Information on medical visa issues can be obtained in your
country of origin at the German Embassy or German Consulate:
Tourism in the Rhineland region
Reliable, safe, flexible - unlimited mobility at any time.
Individualized arrival and departure options as well as unrestricted mobility on site are a luxury
available to every guest in the Rhineland metropolitan region. The three cities of Dusseldorf, Cologne
and Bonn are spaced a maximum of 60 km apart and are easily and quickly accessible via the
outstanding highway infrastructure. The two centrally located airports only serve to emphasize the
internationalization of the region.
airberlin ─
Your Airline.
Germany‘s second largest airline receives more
than ten awards for service and quality every
year. One of the youngest fleets in Europe, airberlin
has earned the World Travel Award several
times.
Chauffeur and limousine
service for the Rhineland
Premium-Drive GmbH operates nationwide and
across the EU with drivers and vehicles on site:
safe - serious - discreet. Since 2011 it is the only
chauffeur service in Germany with a CO2 neutral
fleet.
Cologne Bonn Airport -
from all over Europe to the Rhine
The Cologne Bonn Airport is one of the major airports in Germany
and has grown particularly rapidly in recent years. For
ten years, the airport has focused increasingly on the low-cost
travel business.
Nearly ten million passengers a year take off and land here.
30 airlines fly from Cologne Bonn Airport to around 30 countries
and 100 different destinations. Thanks to the airport, the
Rhine region is quickly and cheaply accessible to guests and
patients from all over Europe.
Almost no other airport is so well-connected to the metropolitan
Rhineland region. Just a few steps separate the
terminal from the airport railway station. Each day 170 commuter
and long-distance trains stop there. In this way, patients
can quickly and reliably reach the excellent clinics in
the Rhineland.
The direct access to the highway likewise brings you to your
destination quickly. People with reduced mobility receive assistance
at the airport from the Red Cross. Experienced staff
offer help from arrival up to departure.
A medical centre, which is also staffed on weekends, a 24/7
Rewe supermarket and lovely shops and cafes: the services at
the Cologne Bonn Airport are tailored to your needs.
Dusseldorf Airport -
Gateway to the Rhineland
With 20.8 million passengers annually, Düsseldorf Airport
is Germany’s third-largest. At the heart of one of the most
economically successful regions of Europe, 180 destinations
within Europe and beyond make it one of the most important
transport nodes on the continent. Only 10 minutes from
the city centre of Düsseldorf and 40 minutes from Cologne,
it is the ideal starting point for your trip to the Rhineland.
With its terminal completed in 2003, Düsseldorf Airport has
set new standards. The architecture of the building entices
with its transparency and lightness.
The optimal operational sequences, service and safety concept
are trendsetters. An average of around 57,000 passengers
a day take off and land in Düsseldorf and especially
appreciate the short distances and transfer times, and how
easy it is to find their way around. 70 shops with international
brands and 40 restaurants contribute to the high quality
of time spent at the airport and attract not only passengers,
but many other visitors.
VIP guests can relax comfortably and discreetly in a specially
equipped lounge, while the VIP service deals with such formalities
as checking in and picking up luggage. Furthermore,
VIP passengers are brought to the plane in their own VIP
vehicle.
Perfect service at
competitive prices
With over 35 million passengers, airberlin is one of Europe’s
most popular airlines, combining high product quality with
excellent service at reasonable prices. airberlin’s multi awardwinning
on-board service includes free snacks and drinks, a
diverse entertainment programme, daily newspapers and
magazines, a free baggage allowance and a special service for
families with children and passengers with restricted mobility.
On board the company’s long-haul fleet, seat comfort, inflight
entertainment and catering have been further enhanced
while Business Class customers can enjoy a fully-automatic lieflat
seat and an exclusive limousine service on routes to/from
Abu Dhabi (within the United Arab Emirates and in Düsseldorf
within a radius of 60 km). The topbonus programme offers
frequent fliers numerous opportunities to collect air miles for
free flights.
Comprehensive flight network
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates
rated the „World‘s Leading Airline“ for three years in a
row, has been a strategic partner of airberlin since the end of
2011. Etihad and airberlin’s combined network includes 239
destinations in 77 countries. You can now fly twice daily from
Abu Dhabi to Düsseldorf. There are connections from destinations
including Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Kuwait and Bahrain.
Highest expectations of quality
and comfort
Premium-Drive GmbH employs only full-time drivers with years
of experience, a proven safety record and first-aid training.
English language skills as well as business attire is of course
guaranteed.
Premium-Drive GmbH‘s services are grouped into three areas:
the classic chauffeur, chauffeur and car, as well as support
for large events for up to 90 vehicles. Vehicles from German
manufacturers make up the following categories of business
vehicles:
••
Business: Mercedes E, Volkswagen Phaeton, Audi A6
••
First: Mercedes S, Volkswagen Phaeton long, Audi A8
••
Van: Mercedes Viano / Vito, Volkswagen Multivan / Caravelle
ministries and the United Nations. As a contractual partner
of several corporations and large companies, all drivers are
very familiar with serving (even for a longer period) managers
/ directors and senior figures from politics, business, film and
television, music and sports.
Of course, the daily services also include sightseeing tours,
trips to nearby airports, various shuttle rides or road shows,
so that everyone‘s individual needs are covered.
