Most older persons said that <strong>the</strong>y were ei<strong>the</strong>r satisfied<br />

2007 Survey <strong>of</strong> <strong>Older</strong> <strong>Persons</strong> <strong>in</strong> Thail<strong>and</strong> asked<br />

respondents to judge <strong>the</strong> sufficiency <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir <strong>in</strong>come<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir satisfaction with <strong>the</strong>ir f<strong>in</strong>ancial situation.<br />

Results are shown <strong>in</strong> Table 3.9. Overall just over a<br />

fifth <strong>of</strong> older persons <strong>in</strong>dicated that <strong>the</strong>ir <strong>in</strong>come was<br />

There is little difference between persons <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

sixties <strong>and</strong> those age 70 <strong>and</strong> above <strong>in</strong> terms <strong>of</strong> responses<br />

concern<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>come sufficiency <strong>and</strong> f<strong>in</strong>ancial<br />

satisfaction. Likewise, gender differences are almost<br />

nonexistent. However a reasonably clear contrast is<br />

evident between urban <strong>and</strong> rural older persons. The<br />

latter are noticeably more likely to <strong>in</strong>dicate that <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

<strong>in</strong>come is ei<strong>the</strong>r <strong>in</strong>sufficient or only sometimes<br />

sufficient <strong>and</strong> more likely to <strong>in</strong>dicate dissatisfaction<br />

with <strong>the</strong>ir f<strong>in</strong>ancial situation. Both <strong>the</strong> gender <strong>and</strong><br />

rural-urban comparisons accord reasonably well with<br />

<strong>the</strong> more objective measures <strong>of</strong> material well-be<strong>in</strong>g<br />
