• Defending the Bulldogs
Tonight’s game throws one of the best offenses in
the South Atlantic Conference, Wingate, against one
of the best defenses in the country in Newberry. The
Bulldogs are averaging 71.4 points per contest and
are one point shy of reaching 1,000 as a team on the
year. Newberry, on the other hand, has allowed just
809 points so far, an average of 57.8 per game.
• Gaining the Upper Hand
Newberry is now playing with one of the best turnover
margins in the SAC with a +2.50 mark. During
the Wolves three game win streak they have forced
their opponents to almost 60 turnovers while giving
the ball up only 45 times themselves. Junior guard
Keisha Henderson has had 10 steals in the three
game span as well.
• Bench
During the Wolves winning streak they have been
heavily aided by the play of the bench players. In the
past three games Newberry has scored a total of 192
points. The players coming off of the bench for coach
Page have scored a third of those points to bring in
the victories.

“I think our team is starting to peak at the right time
of the season. We’re seeing improvement in almost
every aspect of our game and as a coach this is exactly
what we want to see. Wingate may be our biggest
challenge in a while. They bring in a potent offense
with some great leadership so we’ll need to bring our
best defensive game as well as up our scoring if we
want to win.”
