Dear Colleagues, I would be grateful if you could circulate this information as widely as possible through you extended networks, especially those targeting prospective students. It includes details regarding the Australian Government’s postgraduate (MSc and PhD) scholarships programme for eligible ‘developing’ countries and, further down at the bottom, some background information on options to enroll in postgraduate research and taught courses in Agriculture at the Charles Sturt University (NSW, Australia) where I now have an attachment as an adjunct Associate Professor and am involved in postgrad teaching in sustainable agriculture. Among the CSU programmes on offer is a unique Doctor of Sustainable Agriculture programme. The awards include: Australian Government -- PhD Awards in Agricultural Research for Africans. The Australia Awards program will support 20 eligible candidates in Africa for PhD studies in agricultural research at Australian universities, commencing in 2013. The program is open to nationals from the following countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Uganda. The Australian government makes a significant contribution to the education of talented individuals in the developing countries through its Leadership Awards. These cover a wider range of countries. The subject areas for study correspond to priorities of Australia's aid programs by regions and countries -- and include agriculture, energy, natural resources, and environment. These awards can cover both taught Postgraduate and Undergraduate courses. The deadlines for Development Scholarships and Leadership Award Scholarships are in February, March, April, and May -- varying by country.
