<strong>Nomination</strong> <strong>Form</strong><br />

The <strong>Irish</strong> <strong>Concrete</strong> <strong>Society</strong> will again make an award for excellence in design or construction of a<br />

completed building, structure or concrete element, irrespective of type, scale or complexity, in<br />

concrete.<br />

The Award Scheme is organised to enable the <strong>Society</strong> to acknowledge construction achievements<br />

in which concrete, in any form contributes significantly to the built environment. Entries relating<br />

to the contribution made by concrete to any aspect of building, civil engineering, architecture, art<br />

or landscaping will be accepted by the <strong>Society</strong>.<br />

Entries are subdivided into three categories:<br />

• Building<br />

• Infrastructure<br />

• Element (Housing or small projects e.g. walls, stairs, paving)<br />

There will be one overall winner chosen, with category winners in the other sections, depending<br />

on the level and quality of entries.<br />

The jury will consider awarding special recognition for the use of concrete in a sustainable context.<br />

<strong>Nomination</strong>s should include a brief description of the contribution of concrete in this regard.<br />

The adjudication will be carried out by an independent jury convened by the Council of the <strong>Society</strong><br />

<strong>Nomination</strong>s for the Award may be made by clients, Architects, Consulting Engineers, Material<br />

Suppliers, Contractors or others directly involved with the project. <strong>Nomination</strong>s must refer to<br />

completed work, located in Ireland, which commenced after January 2009.<br />

Note Entries submitted for the previous years award may remain eligible for this year’s scheme if<br />

they meet the requirements of the above commencement date. A new nomination form and<br />

photographs must be resubmitted.<br />

Entries will be selected by the jury for display at the <strong>Awards</strong> Evening. Photographs must be of<br />

high quality and submitted in digital format (Jpeg format preferred). As a guide, file sizes for<br />

each photograph should be 750kB or greater. Photographs should highlight the concrete<br />

elements of the structure.<br />

Completed forms must be returned to the <strong>Society</strong> at the address below before the closing date of<br />

Friday 23 rd of November 2012.<br />

Valid entries must be accompanied by a brief description of the project and a minimum of 4<br />

printed photographs. Photographs must be of professional quality and must also be submitted in<br />

digital format of 150 dpi saved at 10” x 8”.<br />

Note: These photos, which will be retained by the <strong>Society</strong>, will be used to help the jury form initial<br />

impressions on the merits of the entry and may also be mounted for public display on the <strong>Awards</strong> Evening<br />

or used for promotional purposes. This form should be returned to the Executive Officer, <strong>Irish</strong> <strong>Concrete</strong><br />

<strong>Society</strong>, Platin, Drogheda Co. Louth before the closing date of Friday 23 rd of November 2012.<br />

The decision of the Council of the <strong>Society</strong> shall be final<br />
