Bio-identical
Hormones?

Since the 1940s,
pharmaceutical
companies have been
labeling synthetic
hormone replacement
therapy (HRT)
as the female
fountain of youth.
However, over the last several years, the
double nature of the synthetic HRT has been
exposed. The long-term use of synthetic HRT’s has been
shown to cause more chronic health risks than short-term
benefits.
In 1975, clinical studies showed a link between synthetic
estrogens and endometrial cancer. Additionally, in 2002 a major
study by the Women’s Health Initiative was stopped abruptly
because the risk of developing heart attacks, strokes, breast cancer and
blood clots was higher in the subjects that took the synthetic hormones.
Furthermore, in 2003 additional studies showed that the risk of
developing Alzheimer’s disease and dementia in women over the age of
65 taking synthetic hormones was increased.
Now that we know synthetic hormones are not what they seem to
be, where can we find the answer or solution to this problem? Let’s take
a look at how Mother Nature has always done it and let us just copy
that. There is no need to reinvent the wheel.
Bio-identical hormones, sometimes referred to as “natural”
hormones, are custom-mixed formulas containing various hormones that
are chemically identical to those naturally made by your body. Synthetic
hormones that are normally prescribed are not bio-identical to the
hormones that our bodies make and therefore come with many side
effects.
The natural hormones are:
• Progesterone
• Estrogens (estrone, estradiol and estriol)
• Testosterone
• DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone)
• Pregnenolone
These hormones or a customized combination can help alleviate the
symptoms of many ailments that are affected by various hormonal
imbalances.

• Poor concentration/memory lapses
• Heart disease/atherosclerosis
• Hot flashes
• Thinning skin
