Section 4.1 Description b The recommended setting for this field is Cosine. • Apodization b selects the apodization function that is applied to the interferogram before computing the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). The available apodization functions are listed and described in Appendix A on page 31. • Laser Freq must be set to the frequency of the reference laser. This value should be 15799.7 for the red He-Ne laser used in all standard FT- IR Series spectrometers. Changing this value will render the data acquired incompatible with other data and with standard methods and libraries. • Absorbance Cut-Off min and Cut-Off max define the minimum and maximum values that any absorbance spectrum can reach. If the spectrum goes out of this range it is automatically truncated. • Transmittance Cut-Off min and Cut-Off max define the minimum and maximum values that any transmittance spectrum can reach. Chapter 4 The Collect Menu c For most applications, normal phase correction with Gaussian apodization and 128 cm -1 resolution should be used. • Phase correction c affects the behaviour of the phase correction that is performed on the spectrum after computing the fast Fourier transform of the interferogram. Apodization selects the apodization function to use on the phase interferogram. Resolution selects the number of points to use for the apodization function. Type selects the interferogram from which the phase information is deduced: Normal selects the same interferogram as the sample. Stored selects an external interferogram stored in a file. • Use Default restores the default values.
